Im off opiates about 3 weeks now..still no appetite but fell better than the first week...now I know its normal.Thank you everyone who posted
day off of 50-60 mg of norcos and 4-8 350mg of somas...no mafor withdrawl syptoms...yawning, slight irritability but NO APPETITE !
I had a huge appetite while on oxy's actually gained quite a bit of weight while I was on them. I am on day 5 and still have no appetite although I must admit I feel much better than I did the first 3-4 days. Anyways I realize these are super old posts but figured I'd post anyways. Hope you made it Bobbyjean, I'm having a pretty rough time and I wasn't even doing a third of what you were doing a day. Pete.
Our bodies can go longer without solid food than we realize. It is your body's way of detoxing. Try shakes that have protein and potassium. Even the slimfast shakes or something similar are full of vitamins. Give your body time, your appetite will return when it is supposed to.
I am very impressed by your courage and determination. Never forget what it was like because folks like us seem to have a knack for getting offered opiates. You can be a great mentor to those who are trying to detox!
Well I averaged 8 plus tablets of the Oxycontin Extended Release 80mgs a day, sometimes 12 and that's a lot of pure oxycontin. It hasn't been a walk in the park to come off of it. I have no experience with methadone (you say 90 mgs a day?), but I'm glad you were able to kick the habit. I hope I can stay clean too. Thanks, Bobbyjean
Lack of energy is normal. Don't push our body too much. I did't have loss of appitite pat day five realy. I think your body will tell when to feed it. Mine craved bananas (which I don't like). Ikept thinking that if I ate my energy would come back. It was just a matter of time though. I was so week that I thought I was loosing weight instead I ended up gaining 5lbs in the end. Everyone is so different though, listen to what eneryone says and match yourself up to someones symptoms are close to you. You are doing great - the worst is over!!
Thanks for the advice and the nice compliments. If I live through this, I hope to be able to help others. I have done a lot of difficult things in my life, but nothing as difficult as this. And I'm still afraid I'm going to fail. But people like you give me encouragement and that is wonderful. Thanks, Bobbyjean
I cannot remember who it was, but someone mentioned Yoda once in a post to me and said she had conquered a major oxy habit. I want to think it might have been you talking about Yoda. Does she still post? I would really like to talk to her. Thanks, Bobbyjean
hi, ive never had withdrawals from oxys, but i did go c/t off 90 mgs of methadone a day which is harder to do. well i tell ya day 10 was the day i finally was able to eat. i wish u the best through your ordeal
Hey Bobbie,
You are doing great and should give yourself a pat on the back. I lost my appetite the first time I quit. I drank smoothies with bananas, strawberries, oranges, etc. You want to make sure you are taking in potassium for your heart. You lose alot of potassium when you quit and it will make you weak. I take OTC potassium and drink a large orange juice in the morning. I hear oxycontin is the hardest drug to get off of and look at you, you went c/t and are now on day 7. You amaze me woman!!
Tim
The appetite part is hard to tell, Im on day 31 of being clean off of Percocets and I still dont have very much of an appetite. Your digestive system and everything is trying to get back to normal, Ive been drinking lots of ginger ale, and just snacking on things. Always make sure you have a little something in your stomach so you dont feel worse. Try some crackers or soup or somethng light for now, it doesnt have to be much!! your appetite will come back soon enough. We just have to keep in mind that our bodies are still adjusting. Thats all hun!! if you need anything else lemme know!! :) otherwise have a good day, your almost through it!!
-Smiles
How do I reach this "Yoda" that several people have mentioned? I heard that she went cold turkey from a major oxycontin habit. I would love to talk to her and find out what to expect from her. Thanks again, Bobbyjean
