I am a 220 woman, and I have a severe phobia about needles. I need some injections and bloodwork done soon. How much Xanax should I take for it to be effective due to my weight? I am 5"6. Thanks

I took xanax in early 90's and it took me 2 years to get off it. I was up to 4 -2mg a day. They had me pop them in half like once a month and let me get use to that dose.. It was the worse expeience of my life.. At the end they could not get me off the last dose.. I had to go on Klonopin to finally get me off xanax.. At the time Dr. said it is worst than cocaine to come off..

My brother is addicted to xanax he takes I think 2mg a day. He also is an alcoholic. He is always messed up and keeps saying that he is losing his mind and does not remember stuff. He sleeps all day and is up all night? I am really  wondering how he is still alive. He had a seisure(dont know how to spell) about 3 months ago. My question is i guess, what other things could happen to him? heart attack? etc? He is really going crazy...and its scaring me. Please let me know what yall think. Thank you

Hello
I have concerns because my 23 year old daughter and her friends like to do xanax and alcohol.  I found this forum and your comments just confirm the information I have read in other places.  She lives 900 miles away from me and there is nothing I can do.  She also smokes pot and doesn't seem to have any desire to stop this spiral.  2 years ago, before meeting and hanging with the group that has introduced her to this mix, she had graduated w/ a 2 year degree, working 3 jobs and on her own, working hard and living life strong and conscientiously. Since losing herself in this mess and lifestyle, she has stopped taking care of the basics, lost her car, lost her license, lost her place, lives with other party animal addicts (believe it or not - this is with a woman my age (44) who parties hard, only works one job (the one where she met and associates with this group of addicts) and has very little contact with her family and lifelong friends. It breaks my heart and I am worried to the point of not sleeping and waiting for that dreaded phone call.  I have told her what could happen to her and begged her to step back and get away from this mess, but she seems to think she's not that bad.  I know I can't change it, but it really sucks - she wasn't raised in this kind of environment and is smarter than this, but I know the more  substances you use, the more your brain is in denial.  Since I am not a drinker or drug abuser, I  have no understanding of this desire.  I have my share of problems, hard luck and depression, but I choose not to give in and allow myself to rely on meds or alternatives for dealing with life.  Any input or suggestions are appreciated and I hope for those of you struggling with the same addictions and others, you can find the strength to pull yourselves out.  Show me any truly successful drug addicts/alcoholics in this world?  Look at the Brittney's, Lindseys, Rock stars and others in the public eye- they have the world on a silver platter, more money than God, have the ability and werewithal to pay for the best help and they are just as ****** up as the real people, only again, they choose this path!!!
