Well, I can relate to what you are going through, totally! Today is Day 3 for me, Day 3 cold-turkey... but only because I ran out of pills. When I first came to this MedHelp community for help, I figured I was asking for how to get through 3 days without my tramadol. But being here with all of the wonderful, supportive people, I realized that I want my life back, away from these pills. I cancelled the refill I called in to the pharmacy eariler this week (that was ready to pick up today), and know there is no turning back. I have not had a seizure, but MAN, the withdrawls have been horrible. Here I am, sitting at work, and I CANNOT wait until 3:00... quitting time. But I know that I can get through this. And if I can do it, so can you. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers, and just wanted to let you know that I am in the same boat... We are doing this together.
tram is not a good med to ct from..tapering with a dr's supervision is always best..but actually when someone is using well over the prescribed dose orf tram, the risk of seizures is there as well..even while using...so it can be a catch 20..or is it a catch 22? lol at 5 days clean it is silly to go back and taper now...depression can be a big part of tram wd so the aminos like 5htp may benefit u alot...or even an AD for a bit til u get on ur feet to help level urself out...good luck to u and congrats on ur decision to be free...keep posting
MOM thank hun you are doing great too
stewndidi, Just thinking about you and wondering how you are doing? I hope everything is going well. You are doing awesome!
avisg, you are right, I think most people do not know the dangers of tramadol. When my doctor first told me about it, he said it would be very safe and not addicting (this was several yearrs ago). Boy was he wrong! I was very lucky I have had no long-term effects. Congrats on so many clean days! I am hoping to be suboxone free soon. You are an inspiration to all of us!
My usage got way out of hand. I was up to 1000mg a day. I'm hoping to go to work tomarrow or at least part of the day. My family DR referred me to a Doctor who deals with behavioral Medicine. I have an appt. tomarrow. From my seizure in Dec. my Doc prescribed Keppra I guess it's an anti-seizure medication. He said I need to take it if I want to drive.(for the next 2 yrs.) I can't beleive how I got to this point. When I found this forum it helped me to realize I'm not alone. Thanks again.
mom of two I am so gald you are here I feel horrable that you had sezuires after cting tramadol but thank you for sharing .I have been trying for years to get members to understand you can have sezuires when you CT. They think its only when you are on them that it will happen. Over the years we have had a few sezuire durning CTing the one I remeber the most was a poor girl that had a sezuire in the middle of thanksgiving dinner very sad. Plz stick around we need people that are knowegable on tram there are not very many that are .It was my drug of chioce as well I have been clean 671 days ....
You are very lucky you have had no seizures in the last five days. I also abused tramadol (along with opiods) and suffered seizures as well a few time when I tried to CT. One time I had a seizure 9 days after CT so please be careful. Were you taking a large quantity of tramadol daily? At my worst, I would take about 400+mg of tramadol so maybe I experienced seizures b/c of the large quantity. I do not know but just be aware it is still possible (do not want to scare you but thought you should be aware). Congrats on 5 days. That is awesome!!!!
going CT was very risky it can cause seizures .You are 5 days so the physical symptoms should be letting up.Things that helped me a is magnesium calcium supplement 5 hpt L tyrosine supplement as long as your not on an anti depressant. Vit b6 and 12.exercise exercise exercise it help me so much .Then what are you going to do for recovery care.
