hi,
I have had problems with codeine as well and thrugh my own experience I can tell you that the w/d's aren't that bad at all. Effects differ from person to person but for me, even when I was taking very doses of more than a 1000 mg a day, the hard w/ds only lasted for around single day and within 48 hours, I was quite well. It's mostly mental, high anxiety, goose bumps, chills are what you can expect at the end of the 1st day.
After that a feeling of tiredness and pain in your muscles can last for a couple of more days. Hot baths and normal pain medication can relieve this. The anxiety can be taken care of through medication as well. Get some benzo's like ativan, vallium etc from a doctor. Use them for anxiety and to be able to sleep through the 1st three or four days. That's it, you are of off Codeine! Oh yes, forgot the diarhea, you can take immodium for that....
Once you are clean, remember staying clean is the real important part, for many people, at least subconsciously, the fear of w/d's is just an excuse to go on using, please check with yourself if you wish to clean up now, if not than you may just be setting yourself up to fail....
Well detox and the drug in your body are actually two different things. Detox can take weeks, or months, because you're brain and body have changed. The actual drug codeine though, has a half-life of between 2.5 - 4 hours. It's oral onset is usually about 35 - 45 minutes, it peaks at about one to one and a half hours, and it's duration is 4 hours. It's mostly metabolized by your liver, and 5-15% of it is excreted without change in your pee. I think you're asking more about how long this'll last for you, w/d, right? If so, It's hard to say, depends on how much you were taking, and for how long. It also depends just on your body and brain.
Do you mean how long do the withdrawals last?
