subutex/bupe withdrawal anyone with cold turkey experience? please

Has anyone done a cold turkey withdrawal from buprenorphine?? [and is still around to tell me about it ;)]?? I have been paying exorbitant amounts to stay on a maintenance program [because I was a chicken] I basically just switched my addiction-and haven't dealt with it-I have been trying to ewan myself for months. We've had a lay-off and cannot afford any more-I called some other dr.s and they want lots of money plus, I am tired of being tied to this drug-for me-I have had a few counseling sessions and it's time. I have tapered= from 12-16 mg a day to 8 and tomorrow I will take 4 and be out of pills. I took the week off , have xanax, immodium, etc.-
any one try anything similar or have advice
thanks!

Thanks for the Thanks. In my case looking back mistakes where made with Buprenex Detox. I am highly addictable to Buprenex. I think the key is the minimum for the minimum amount of time on Buprenex. Their a line, a fine line I say. It can work as advertised. For some people getting off Buprenex may be straight forward and I think the Body chemistry, dosing and time on it decide if you are one. I am starting a modified still in planing taper now of Buprenex so I hope we both make it soon. Every time I fail I learn more, getting closer all the time.

Thanks, Bonnie Ann, I was curious where you read that bup. detox is worse than opiate detox-if you remember please let me know. Official Literature says its easier than opiate withdrawal -at day 2/1/2 I'm ok but following THomas recipe.  Whatever happens I am not going back!!! thanks and good luck to you!!

Thanks to you  and others-I am at about 60 hours since last pill-symptoms are very mild-I am concerned with your horrible experience as sooo many people are counting on bup. to get off opiates -also the literature on official websites says detox from Bup.is easier than opiates- thanks again-I hope that you are doing better now!

Well I have extensive experience with Buprenex as Pain Medication and as used several times for Detox. I was up to 5 Ampules a day for about 2 years. I got into trouble writing a few bad checks as I had become so run down just being on Buprenex I got desparate  as I was making money. I cold turkeyed in Jail.

Anyways I went through hell. Withdrawls tended to come in cycles or waves. What I remeber was my pupils for example where dialated even after 3 months. Primary withdrawls easily lasted 3 weeks. Worse was the severe and long lasting fatigue. More than 6 months to recover and was still gaining my strength. Post acute withdrawls for more than 2 years and pretty severe at times. Look I can see Buprenex has a wide reaction with people, I or my body really likes Buprenex. I was Rapid Detox with a 3 day taper of Buprenex which I became addicted to it in that period of time. I certainly can not say it will be this way for you but I guess it could.

Good Afternoon and Welcome!

I feel for you hun, for everything I have heard and read, the w/d from Sub is worse than from the pain meds. I am on day 13 of Sub, and will finish my scipt in a few days. I have been weaning since day 2. I didn't like the way it was making me feel and I was/am scared of getting addicted to it.

I don't really know what to say to you because I have no experience it (yet). But, please hang in there and don't go back to the pain meds, that is surely not the answer.

Hang in there, and post when you can. There are a lot of good ppl in here who will help you thru this tough time.

Take care of yourself, Bonnie

Hey there... Just wanted to welcome you.. and to tell you to stay strong.. From what i have read coming off of sub is hard even with a good taper after you have been on maintence. There are a few people here who have used Sub or a currently taking it..I used it to detox but I was only on it 10 days so mine was short..
I wish you luck..

XOXO
