desparate for help w/suboxone

I am so desparate to find a doctor in Houston who will put me on suboxone for hydrocodone w/drawal.  I was recently in a hospital in houston and safely detoxed off of 40 hydrocodone a day (10/500) but w/in 6 mos the paws and cravings kicked in.  while in the treatment center I was given suboxone but only for about 3-4 days. I found it helped so much and wished they would have kept me on it longer.  I feel that it would have helped me not to relapse.  I'm now up to 60 or more 10/500 a day and desparately need to find someone in houston.  I am new to this site and thank everyone who reads this and offers advise.  I am a mother and wife and I simply cannot afford to go to a treatment center again.  I was in for over 30 days and my family fell apart.  I know that suboxone will help me.  THank you all so much, I've really enjoyed reading all the posts and I certainly hope I have posted this correctly!  thanks again....

Just a bit of information....and you can tell me to go to hell if you'd like...but I wouldn't recommend the subs.  I too didn't want to do the pain pill withdrawals so that's how I found suboxone.  If you thought the w/d off of pills was bad.....subs is worse and last longer!  Most doctors, at least where I'm at, don't prescribe it correctly, they do seem to in other countries though, not sure why.  If you've already gone through the detox off of pills why start with something else.  I did pills for 6 yrs and subs for 6 yrs and I'm still only on day 36 off of the subs and it still somewhat *****.  Yes, I can walk and talk, but that's about it!  My head is so freakin fried it's like a piece of chicken.  Be careful with the subs....don't take them for any longer than like 30 days.  Whoever tells you that you should use them for maintenance is full of ****! That's NOT HOW THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO BE USED!  Just look at all the people that got stuck on methadone...do you think they thought methadone was wonderful b/c it helped them kick the heroin habit...I'm sure they did.  And now there are tons of people stuck on it and trying to get off!  Methadone w/d are just as bad!  I say, give yourself a break, and don't go getting addicted to a 2nd substance.  Again though, my opinion!

Megan...we do not give out phone numbers or e-mail addresses here. It is not permitted. Do a google search for prescribing doctors in your area or you can go to Suboxone.com and find one there. Good luck.

Thank you wait...I did get your private message and found several doctors just a few miles from my house.  I'm going to call at least 2 of them this morning and see what they offer.  My only concern is that I'm currently in treatment, or rather "aftercare" and I don't know what my insurance will do.  I'll just let them know and see what they say.  I may have to get discharged from aftercare first.  In any event, thank you so much for taking the time to send me those links...it is very appreciated and I'm researching as much as I can.  After reading several of these posts, I just don't want to trade one addiction for another but the road I'm on right now will only lead to jail if I don't do something...and trust me, i'm a law abidding citizen and it would destroy my family.  I'm just so desparate and feel so lost.  I'm so glad I found this site!!!  Thank you again!  cara..

did you get the private message with the links?
in one of the links i sent,i think there is a form you can fill out so any doctors in your area that accept your insurance will contact you via email... but if you cant find one that takes your insurance, make sure to look around, there are some out there that will try to take every cent they can, but there are also some truly smart, knowledgable doctors who DO care and money isnt their main goal...just ask them up front what their fees are in case you have to pay cash, and you can check with your insurance company to see if they cover the cost of suboxone...do your checking around...
good luck...

Thank you so much.  All the information I can gather...the better.  Do you know if it's easy to get into a sub doctor once you find one? I have insurance and hope they take it but either way I'm serious about quitting the hydro.  Thanks again!!

I'm going to have the member who helped me find sub doctor send you a list. I asked the same question you are 2 weeks ago and she sent me 3 doctors all within 10 miles of my house.

Coolio...unfortunately, I was resorting to breaking the law to get that many...plus buying off the street.  They've all but ruined my life.  Going to treatment was great but I was back out doing the same thing w/in months.  I'm not proud of what I did and doing that many has made it harder to get off.  I just need to find a suboxone doctor in houston who can help me.  When I did detox at a treatment center they only gave me about 8mgs a day and only for 3 to 4 days tops and then I stopped those cold turkey.  It just isn't easy.  Thanks for the response and I'm glad the Subutex is working for you!!

60 a day is like 1800 a month . I am not putting you down at all....but i've heard other people on here say they were doing numbers like that and i just wonder how do you get that many ?   Or are you just going into withdrawals every couple days when you run out ?

I have a major problem with pills too and if i could have got my hands on that many im sure i would have done 40 or 50 a day too.

I'm on Subutex now and so far so good. It really is the thing to do if you have a major problem like us.

Your awesome for responding so quickly.  I'm so mad at myself for getting myself back into this situation.  I'm still in an aftercare program at the treatment center and I've been talkiing to my counselor I had while I was in-patient.  They've been great.  I just know how I am and I know that suboxone will help me.  Thank you again.  Are you sending the private message to my email?  I'm not sure how this works, sorry.  THank you again!! I can't say it enough!

i have a few different links i will send you that will help you find a doctor in your area with openings...
yes, being on it a bit longer may have helped you to not relapse...but make sure you do your research, make a plan and stick to it, get into some aftercare too, it DOES help and is a very important part of recovery...
i am sending you a private message with the links for a doctor search...
