Your best bet is still to have a doctor supervise this. I hope you check into some sort of aftercare as using is just a symptom of addiction.........sara
Don't even think about going to suboxone from tramadol. That's like trying to put out a fire with gasoline. Subxone IS a narcotic, and was only recommended and studied for 21 days as a detox tool. It was never meant for maintenance or even worse, pain management. Read some of the archived stories on this forum about how awful it is to detox from suboxone and subutex. It's not pretty.
I agree with the above poster. If you insist on home detoxing without a doctor's assistance, write down a taper plan. Definitely have someone else hold your pills and dole them out on a regular schedule. Do not save them up all day so you can spike the dose. That's not detox. That's abuse.
There really isn't any way to completely avoid withdrawal. Suboxone only puts off the inevitable, gets you off street drugs, and in a lot of cases makes for worse withdrawal than detoxing off your drug of choice. That's probably why your brother can't get off it after 3 years. Hang in there. You're almost done, so keep your eye on the prize!
Well
trams are not a good way to get off..u r substituting and u dont wanna end up with a tram issue
Then again, suboxone is switching to another drug as well///not alot of difference if someone analyzes it closely
Both sub and trams are addictive
I would try cutting down on the trams//hand em over to a friend//count out a taper//pick a quit day and write urself a taper...keep it close and let ur friend dole out to u according to the schedule u wrote//cut off all supply or refills
Even if u cheat..which u may! stick to ur quit day. It is important to taper off trams as seizures can occur if u do not...u have not been on them now but 10 days..be safe as tram wd is not fun//but neither is sub wd.
Good luck
have u tried aftercare?
You have to be in moderate withdrawals before taking suboxone. Your doctor should give you an assessment test to make sure you are far enough into withdrawals. I think I would wait at least 24 hours just to be safe. You have to be careful with taking the trams. They can cause seizure if you go cold turkey. I'm not sure if going from tramadol to suboxone would still cause seizure. In a sense going from trams to sub is in a way going ct from the trams. Hopefully someone else will know.
As for a dose to be on, it's really up to you and your doctor. I've read quite a bit about it and many say they get by just fine on 2 to 4mgs. I have heard that with sub if you are taking 4mgs it will fill 96% of your receptors. After the 4mgs any after that will barely fill anymore. Once you are up to 32mgs then almost all receptors a filled. So in sense, if you end up taking more than 4mgs it will take roughly 7mgs to fill another 1% of receptors. Some may take a higher dose the first few days just to get it leveled off in there system and then drop down to the lowest amount they can to where they still feel comfortable and are withdrawal free. It is ultimately up to you and your doctor. I'm just going by what I have read.
If you think you can taper off the trams on your own, then by all means, do it! It would be nice to not have to rely on another pill but suboxone is still better than abusing your doc.
Best of luck to you.
