HI  it well overdue you get your son involved in some sort of recovery program he is taking sub but without the program all he has done is switch drugs he still is exhibiting drug seeking behavior the reson you go on sub is to give your body a rest from active addiction and to work a program like N/A or A/A to get better as addicts we need to change the very way we think to overcome our addictions so encourage him to get plunged in somewhere otherwise all your doing is wasting time on the sub good luck and God bless.....Gnarly

P.S. You don't have to stay up all night to watch him. The vicodin just went in one way and straight out the other.
This is why the ER was not concerned.

Actually, the naloxone in suboxone is innert when taken properly. It does absolutely nothing. When taken properly, the buprenorphine has a higher affinity than the naloxone, and occupies all the opiate receptors. The Naloxone is metabolized and secreted out of the body-wasted.

The Buprenorphine (working ingredient) in suboxone is a strong bonding opiate antagonist which prevents other agonist opiates from bonding to receptors, preventing a person from getting high if they try take something to get high while on suboxone.  Because of this, weaker opiate drugs are also  wasted, because it has no receptors to bond to, it is just secreted out of the body as well.
The Naloxone in Suboxone is there only to prevent abuse of the drug, and nothing else.  If the suboxone is dissolved and injected, then the naloxone comes into action, because it has a higher affinity to opiate receptors than the Buprenorphine when taken this way. It will "kick off" all opiates including the Buprenorphine and cause immediate precipitated withdrawals.

Your son has nothing to worry about, except your wrath for doing something stupid.

Mickey, give him juice mixed with water. Fluids will help if he is dehydrated. As ballgame said the ER would have taken him if they were concerned.
Does he still have pills? Is he taking them for pain? Sounds like he's an addict which must be dealt with.

I'm not a dr. Should be ok.  Sub blocks the receptors so if you take any pain meds you get real sick. It's like that so you dont try to take any pain meds.
That's my understanding.  But don't think mixing these two cause an OD. I do know you get sick if you're on sub and take pian meds.

Also if it was serious they would take him.
