The only info that I can add is that during the first few weeks is the best and least painful time to taper your dose down. After about 4-6wks I became just as addicted and dependent upon suboxone as I was on any other opiate. In the end I found for me it was better to take just enough sub to not be sick, but I wasnt always perfectly comfortable like I was when I was dosing twice a day. Take OC's advice and read the members experiences with sub in the health pages and also ask all the questions that you need answered. I was on suboxone for 18wks and looking back I realized that I could have been stabilized on a much lower dose and I started at 8mgs from tapering down from 120mgs methadone to 30mgs. One thing is for sure is this forum is such a blessing for people to turn to for support and some guidance through these tough times. I wish you all the best, you for sure can do this, I did it and I had absolutely no hope for myself only a few months ago. Stay positive and do your research, take care.
Yea, ditto to what Worried told you ---- May do you some good to read a post in the Health Pages (upper right hand side of this sheet) titled "Members Experiences Coming Off of Suboxone." It may help to read how others did it. You will have to start very soon though if you do not want to be hooked on Sub for a very long time. It is one very powerful narcotic -- 40 times more potent than Morphine. Wish you all the best - You CAN do this. Please keep posting and sharing your experience.
16 mgs a day will be hard to taper by the 21 day cut off unless u start pronto...were u on heroin or methadone? that is alot of sub for a hydro or oxy habit unless it was huge....taper on down as sub has a ceiling effect so chances are that u do not need near what u r taking and it is psychological...most get down to 4 mg painlessly....good luck
