You can and will be successful. If the withdrwals on c/t are too difficult try the weaning and if you have a trusted friend to help you then all the better. Everyone is not he same and everyone must face the demon using their own method. It may take a few trys to find your method and that is ok. Beating yourself up for a "failure" only adds to the problem. Be gentle and loving to yourself. When you are determined enough you will find the way.

I feel you will need to taper off just as the person above suggested. YOu will definetely need some support from these columns or elsewhere. I had an additction to ativan and I did safely get off them but I had to realize I just needed to find myself again and it wasn't me with the drugs.
You were on 2mg a day for 5 years? The dose is not too high but the time definitely made your body addicted. You should try to taper them off slowly, I'll say 0.25mg reduction every two or three weeks, this will allow your body to wean off slowly and not much withdrawal effect will be experienced.
Good luck,
Bob
Just set your mind and do it. I was on Hydro and Morphine for 6 years and I'm on day 7 today and feeling GREAT! Mind over body! Listen to the folks here they know what they are talking about. Read the links on the right. Do you have anyone to help you?
