Cause they research the weak and feeble-minded who truly can't say "no" to anything.  One of these days the light bulb will go on and they'll figure it out, but until then it's gonna be that "bud" will always fall victim to the bad stuff.  Even if it isn't the truth.

i was a user of pot and was put onto prozac to counteract a depressive state i was going through. But one of the main side affects of marijuana is feelins of depression and the lack of want to do anything but feel sorry for yourself and lose the  will to work, play and associate. Prozac made these feelings become worse for myself as i was unaware of the symptoms  a heavy user of pot suffered. Therfor instead of the antidepressant working it was doing the opposite. I ended up blaming the prozac and it wasn't that which was causing me problems. It was the pot so in turn i would not reccommend using pot with ant-depressants

I am a heavy hash smoker and have tried many times to stop but I just dont have the willpower, however I would not believe any bull that these so called researchers say regarding how hashheads
turn into junkies as I have puffed for 3 years and have never taken any other illegal drug or substance in my life - so legalize dope - were not the same as other drug adddicts

You sound like you are trying to convince yourself more than others that you don't have a problem.  Just stop and read your own letter.  You are helpless against this drug.  So literally you are a junkie, maybe not a heroin junkie but a junkie just the same.  You are not your own person.  You belong to hash.  It controls you.  Youi smoked for three years but never did ANY OTHER ILLEGAL DRUG.  SO YOU ADMIT YOU ARE DOING ILLEGAL DRUGS.  Just because you want to feel better about yoursaelf doing drugs IT MUST BE LEGALIZED.  GET REAL ESPECAILLY WITH YOURSELF.  I WISH YOU LOTS OF LOVE AND PRAYERS.

We need to legalize marijauna because it is better than alcohol and also has less of an effect on the body than anyother drugs. If you think about everyone pretty much does it and has tried it before.

Lets fire one up for America

Sheba, Lamotta, Refer, Pot, Chronic, Blunt, Bud, Grass, and Hemp are some of the words that people use when talking about marijuana.  However, when it comes down to smoking marijuana there is always different perspective.  Some people think it should be legal while others think its better off illegal. The people that think it should stay illegal probably have good reason. For example, one person might say that marijuana is a gateway drug or that pot has bad side effects. Also, there is the question about smoking and driving while being stoned. So lets take a minute to touch down on this subject end then I will show you how we can benefit from the legalization of marijuana.

First there is the people who believe that the use of marijuana will lead to the use of harder drugs like cocaine, heroin, acid, mushrooms, peyote and PCP.  Although, I know plenty of people that smoke only marijuana because they consider it a liter drug.  Also, they have given up drinking alcohol, smoking cigarettes and other drugs because they claim it's to hard on the system and is made by man.

Next, these people are also concerned about driving under the influence.  In addition people are arrested every day for DUI.  But how many DUI's are because of marijuana?  Better yet, how many times have someone heard about vehicle homicide while stoned on marijuana?  Honestly, I have never heard of any accident.  When someone smokes a joint because the effects are much less than alcohol.  For example, he or she would not stumble around, and they are able to see straight without being of balanced.  Otherwise, if someone is caught smoking while driven, fine him or her and treat it like you would alcohol. Also, I would rather see someone smoking a joint then drinking any day because I know what the effects are of being high versus being drunk.  Yet, I still would not condone either one while driving.

Another, reason people might be against marijuana is because it is bad for there health. Well, I am going to agree with them, marijuana has to have some side effect like all drugs. However, there are other drugs out there that are legal and much harder on the body. Yet, people think it is right to sell speed, diet pills, downers, sleeping pills, anti-depressants, pain pills, muscle relaxers, cigarettes, dip and not to mention alcohol.  Meanwhile, everybody acts like they have never heard about liver and kidney damage, high blood pressure and heart attacks.  Yet, doctors say marijuana can cause lung cancer, which is inconclusive there is no real evidence following those accusation. So if someone is going to smoke something that might cause damage why does it have to be man made with a lot of side effects while marijuana comes straight from the earth, no ingredients added and only one health risk, lung cancer.

Next to the first type of people stand the second type people, the dope smokers.  However, there would be a lot more people standing beside the so-called potheads if they knew what could be done if marijuana would be legalized.  Such as, the solution to the over crowded problem in prison.  Also create new jobs and help America with its tax deficit.  How could marijuana help anyone out that much?  Well it's very simple; the plan could go something like this.

First there are thousands of people in prison for committing victimless crimes while child sex abusers, murderers and rapist walk the streets and get another shot to destroy another generation.  Why do I say generation?  The reason is that when someone is murdered or a child is sexually abused the whole generation suffers until they die.  This is no ones fault accept for the government because there is just not enough room in prison for everybody.  As a result, why not legalize marijuana and free up some rooms for those criminals that work hard to stay there.  In addition, this will help the police man consecrate on the harder drugs that should stay outlawed and at the same time save the tax payers money which brings me to the next reason.
Second, America has a tax deficit problem and marijuana could be the quick fix.  Specifically, be the taxing of marijuana.  How could marijuana be taxed?  The plan is simple.  These stores that sells marijuana has to pay a tax on the product.  The people that grow it would have to have a license.  The license would be divided into two groups, home growers and farmers.  The price of the license would very depending on the size of the product that the farmer markets or how many adults live in a house.  One might say, "Well every body would try and grow it to save money".  On the other hand every body has a choice to go hunting and grow there own vegetables but it never happens because growing and hunting is just not an easy thing to do.  As a bonus the government gets to tax the employment that they have created.  For example, the employee's pay would be taxed.  In addition, this brings us to the next reason, employment.

Third, marijuana should be legalized for employment purposes.  Such as the new jobs that would be recognized as the Regulators, a government employed person, who backs up the tax laws set fourth by the government.  Second type of employment would be a hemp factory, which will also save exploit cost.  The last reason, which is very important to me, is the farmers.  The farmers are hurting bad and marijuana could pull them out of the slump.  Furthermore, the government can tax all of the new employment and give raises to all of the police officers.

On the other hand, who would lose out if marijuana were legalized?  First, the drug dealers that are making money under the table would be out of business.  The farmers in other countries that are growing pot for free.  Also, the government would lose out because they would lose a lot of tax right off.  The person that loses out the most is the hard-core felon, which has a chance to really PAY FOR the crime.  Government could spend more time on the real drug dealers.  Moreover, this would cause a dominos effect not only on the drug dealers but also on the victims that suffer from crimes related to them.

In summary, for every reason someone might be against marijuana it's still just a victimless crime.  If we could legalize it there is nothing to lose, on the other hand if we don't legalize marijuana we can keep making excuses about why we pay so much for gas and why whole families are suffering because the judicial system failed and let another flunky out of prison, while the guy next door goes a full ten years for a conspiracy charge of selling marijuana and "jack the ripper flunky moves in fresh out of the pokey".

You make many good points and I can't really disagree with most of your post; however, this is an addiction forum.  People are here because they couldn't "chip" and not become addicted to whatever substance.  Your view deserves to be aired in many forums, but probably not here.

Isn't this hillarious?  The original question pertaining to the effects of smoke in combo with antidepressants has clearly made a pass directly over the heads responding here.  See what extended firing-up does?  It seems that it has a tendency to "dull the intellect".  The hash smoker claims that she is not the same as other addicts.  So... in other words she is saying that she is an addict, but not the same as the others.  Is that correct?

What seems to be the problem here is the inability to read, grasp and retain the original thought by the "smoke" community.  If they would just "quit" for a while, I'm sure they would once again, display intellect.

As for the original question, years ago I was put on elavil and smoked dope everyday.  After my system got used to the elavil, smoke posed no problems.  I just couldn't smoke it during the first week or so.  Now... I don't take elavil anymore, just a myriad of pain killers that are needed for quality of life.  Smoke has no place among them.  If I smoke it... I usually pass out, so what good is it?  And if I did continue to smoke it... my intellect would fly out the window taking my brain along with it.  I think I would much rather be able to spell words than suck a bong and stare into space.  Wouldn't you?- Ciao!

I smoke every day, and see no side effects.  I think that people us it for an excuse to lay around.  I also think that it brings out your true person, and some of you out there are just plain lazy.  All of the claimed side effects are bullshit.  If your mind is strong enough you will not beleive any of them.

the day that good green stuff becomes legal i'll be the first one on the street to buy a giant fat sack of that green bud. I don't see why everybody is against smoking pot; I think it is good for you in more ways than one. for starters it promotes eating, makes the food you eat taste better, enhances your creative abilities and allows you to view different situations from many different angles. I'm all for the day when hardworking americans can come home and load up.

"It enhances your creativity and allows you to view different situations from many different angles..."  Okay... now there's a real misconception.  One might "think" they are into detail, but in reality, they aren't.  I'm a real case in point.  As a smoking musician, before I made it in the field, I used to think I really sounded good.  Yeah right... only to myself.  Truth is, you better not be a smokiholic.  The big dogs don't want you.  Why?  Because the detail you "think" you are into is generally your own and nobody elses.  Only the local garage bands think it's good to be into smoke.  In the higher elavations, we can't use you.  Why?  Your detail is not our detail.  It's not good enough.  So, smoke on.  Keep attempting to write good music.  It'll be turned away as soon as detected.  If an artist wants to make it it might be best if they choked on the **** and quit d.c. al fine.  The end.  Do not return to the coda.
