methadone detox....need support

I was a pill head for years.....went to a methadone clinic to get my life back....stopped Dr. shopping, lying ect but now was a prisoner of the clinic. Initially the Dr. told me I might be better on suboxone. they would re evaluate in a few months...I never saw the dr after the first intake. 7 years later and after many requests to taper down, I finally made it happen.  The counselors told me I wasn't ready but I asked to start anyway. I'm down to 25 milligrams and going down 1 a week.  I'm starting to feel not so good and need some help. What can I do? I'm thinking about seeing a doctor and asking if there's anything I can do to make it better. I in a stable situation, not had any craving and even if I did wouldn't know where to go.  I want to be done with this but i'm afraid the sickness will get worse. any suggestions???? Need some help to be successful at this incredibly hard life task!!!

I stopped methadone in september. Jumped off at 12.5. Not easy. I went to rehab to help me get off the oxy and Valium they had given me for jumping the methadone. There I saw lots of people who used suboxone to help with withdrawals. Then withdrew from the suboxone before they were discharged from the 28day program. They had a much easier time. I could not ake suboxone as it affected my multiple scleroisis.

I was a prisoner of the methadone clinic. Was on it for 2 years. Worst 2 years of my addiction. When I started tampering I found eating healthy and exceeding decreased alot of my crappy feelings I was having. I also took a bunch of vitamins.

Congrats to u on wanting ur life back

The protein shake's amino acids are what i think helped me most. Your brain needs the raw materials to rebuild your natural chemistry. All the above advice helps as well. Daily exercise helps a ton too, nothing major, just enough to keep your heart rate up a some. Detox is like having kids, nobody is ever prepared, they are only ready. We can help you as you go, glad you found us. Congrats on your progress so far.

Hi  well congrats for taking your life back  I also was a methadone addict for almost 7yrs went from 150mg to 1 mg in 8 1/2 months    methadone is a ruff detox but it is doable if you can get up to walmart and pick up a 3 in 1 vitamin calcium magnesum zinc   start taking 4 with breakfast and 4 with dinner in a few days you will notice a improvement in how you feel they only cost 6 bucks for 250 and I used that brand when I detoxed  keep posting for support the last 20mg are the hardest part but you can do it if you have questions just post here or message me may God be with you...........Gnarly

Hi I just commented on your other thread. It is best to stick to one thread.
It's less confusing and easier to follow your story and progress.
You are down to 25mgs?
And have been tapering for 4 weeks? If that the case great job on staying
At a lower dose.
You might need to slow down your taper.
Let your body adjust to each drop, before you drop again.
Build your body up with a multi vitamin, drink protein shakes,
Take a magnesium/zinc/calcium supplement.
Take hot epsom salt baths for aches and pains.
Stay hydrated. Move around and exercise it will help your brain heal.
Congrats on wanting to reclaim your life.
There is freedom from the chains and bondage of addiction.
Keep the faith.
You are doing awesome.
