What kinds of meds are offered?

Can someone tell me what kinds of meds are offered for detox and how?  Does your dose depend on how much you were addicted?  In other words, I know Methadone is commonly used, but how does it work, and would I be given the same dose as say someone who was using 1/2 the pills I was?  HOw do these meds work?  Does it feel like the pills, only safer or something?  I am looking into as much as I can, but I have o idea whats in store for me, so any experiences from any of you would be kindly appreciated.  How do these meds work?  Do you still suffer and if so, like how?  Sorry for so much writing today, I have so much on my mind, so afraid, I haven't been able to talk to anyone really-so I apologize for consuming the board, I just want to learn what I can, maybe make friends in the process?  It feels better to know I am not alone-but I still feel low low low....loveisamom

Rock, Apple and Pacifica, everyone..-thank you so much for all your help-I am indeed frightened to say the least-I WANT TO LIVE.  What woke me up?  Not one circumstamnce, many I guess.  I've just been in a down spiral to say the least-at one point I didn't care if I lived or not-thats horrible to say being a mom and all-its what I want to live for now-my preious kids, I love them so much-how could I be sooo stupid!!??  Well, I am about to go to sleep-or try-I am stressed.  I went to 56 pills today-big whoop-but if I don't go to bed, I'll take more.  I'm going to tuck kids in and lay with them for a while-its what I want tonight.  I told the hubby about all of you-he is proud.  He still doesn't kno of the extent-I cannot bring myself to tell him.  So-Do I go to Dr AND Rehab or just the hospital?  I know we are not docs here-but I just want a place to start....sorry for leaning so much-but you have to remember, I cant talk to anyone-or haven't about all this-feels good to let it out-you know what I mean?  You all are great-I am so glad I found this place-just please help me get thru this...g'nite.loveisamom

Hi I am on day 4 and I Went to a addiction doctor and I am doing a medical detox at home and I HAVE TO SEE HIM EVERYDAY.The med he gave me stop all w/d symptoms. my meds are  GABAPENTIN, CLONAZEPAM, CLONIDINE AND OXAZEPAM AT BED TIME TO SLEEP. This works you do not have to suffer at all, but you can not work as the meds make you very groggy. I was on oxy about 180 to 200 mg a day.  Hope you find what you need .    BEST WISHES AND GOD BLESS   RICK
