pregnant w/ ha's and taking fioricet

I'm 6 weeks pregnant.  I used to take fiorinal everyday to help me be able to not be in pain and live my life.  I have been doing so for about 9-12 months.  I, unexpectedly, got pregnant recently.  I changed my perscription to fioricet and took the dose down to half of what I was taking.  I felt pretty horrible for about 8 days, then at the half a dose was okay for a few days.  Now at the same dose I'm feeling really terrible again.  I'm not sure how to proceed but need to do something because I'm not sleeping, I have a terrible migraine that is causing vomiting and I feel lots of nervousness.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

I've been tapering because of the stress to my body.  I'm under the care of my OB, Neurologist and Endocrinologist and when I found out I was pregnant I went from 8 per day down to 4 a day and dealt with the w/d for a week.  Now I'm down to 2.5 per day and I'll be completely off by October 7th.  I'm dealing with everything better now than I was previously.  I'm scared of being off the meds completely because I don't know what to expect but I'm determined to take good care of my baby.  I'm getting regular pre-natal checks with my OB and my doctors call me once a week for a phone consult to make sure I'm on schedule.  I've always been truthful with my doctors and this was the result of emmense pain that was numbed by the meds and I was on them for a year.  It was the solution at the time.  Now the pain is overhwelming at times and I just work through it with the thought of my baby in mind.  After the baby is born I will not go back to the meds but work toward another solution.  I hate taking this medicine anyways and I'm glad that I have an excuse to stop, this medicine makes me tired and sick to my stomach but relieves pain so I can do life.  If there are any suggestions for what to do after the pregnancy for TOS and migraines that I have every single day, I'm open to any and all suggestions.  Thanks for the support!

I took fioricet throughout my pregnancy for migraines.   It's category 3.  My baby is healthy and beautiful.  If you need it then use it.  Healthy mom healthy baby.  Remember that.

Yes goodluck. you are smart to quit now while you are still early in pregnancy. I quit at 4 weeks pregnant and everything turned out fine.

Fioricet is ok during pregnancy.  My ob preferred it to the other medications though it didn't stop my headaches and ended up with lortab.  The thing is, you have to take the reccomended dose which you very well may be.  Your post didn't say.  Your ob will be able to help you but be honest with the dr. about what you are taking and how much. You really shouldn't have problems with the fioricet.

Good luck with your pregnancy.  I hope everything goes very well for you.

first of all, you need to see your doctor. he may be able to prescribe something for the h/a and the nausea/vomiting. i had to take zofran and phenergan when i was pregnant for the nausea. be completely honest with him about the fiorcet and see if there is an alternative med for you. best of luck.
