pain killers

OK, I really dont know where to begin. My girlfriend has been taking percocet for 3 years now, on top of that, topamax, clonapin, and others. She has also been on oxicoton, oxicoden, and different antidepressants also. It all started over a mysterious pain attack that she had. Pain throughout her whole body. She has had many, many of these attacks in the past. Usually when she has one, she ends up in the emergency room and they end up giving her diloted for the pain. This has happened on many occasions. The doctors have ran all kinds of tests on her and nobody can come up with anything. Also, in the past she has had what looked like seizures. After we take her to the emergency room, they tell us that she was not having a seizure. They didnt know what it was. While nobody can figure out whats wrong with her, the pain clinic that she goes to, continues to give her these pain killers. Infact, they just upped her does to 180 percocets per month. All these doctors, and nobody can come up with anything. They are starting to say that its all in her head. Some are even treating her like she is drug seeking, and all these pain attacks are fake. Could it possibly be that this is all just in her head and none of this pain is real? I care alot about her, but I dont know how to approach her about this. I think that maybe she would totally turn away from me and thats the last thing I want. If this is all in her head, I know she needs help, but I dont know how to approach this. Can anybody help?

Thank you

well i am on similar meds and i have nothing wrong with me....and since i can admit i wanted to get high for myself i can to tell you i only want to get clean for myself....I am prescribed the pysch meds but the pain pills i have no business being on so they are first off the list.  it is extremely hard to get off of them because i am afraid of withdrawal.  i would like to know how your story pans out as it seems your gf and i are in similar situations except i want to get off the pain pills and it seems she wants to stay on them unfortunately for her- i hope she either finds a correct diaganosis, the doctors stop prescribing her pain pills for no reason, and/or you find clarity in your life bc this is no way for you to be living.....there is a problem when you are on here finding cures for her and she is not - if you catch my drift.  Love is a powerful drug, if not the most powerful, but please be careful as your health and livelihood are just as important and I beg you not too wait too long to see that.  Good luck and god bless.

Regardless of whether or not she really needs them, she is almost certainly physically dependent, meaning she will go thru withdrawals if she doesn't have her pills.  That is what happens to a lot of people.  It starts out innocently enough and before you realize it, it is too late....the monster of addiction has you in its grip.
Just talk to her more and in a non-threatening way.  She is lucky to have someone who cares so much!
