Yay!!!!!!!!!
I had read your earlier posts and an so happy you're still plugging along! Thanks for coming back and sharing a happy update :)
Hello all,
Just wanted to pass on the results of stopping Tramadol. The first 3 days were hard in that I was lethargic mostly. Then, I gradually got better and it is about a month with no Tramadol! Still take about 6 naproxen tablets, but that is it. Thanks for your encouragement. Not as hard as I thought.
Great job. I would stick with that for several days. A slow taper works the best.
Good luck to you and glad you are feeling so optimistic.
That is half the battle.
Made it through until the evening and took the other half of tramadol. Going to try again today. Felt pretty good and feeling optimistic. Have appointment with my doctor, but not until Jan. 29, so I hope to be off them by then.
Thanks for the question... I am recovered from back surgery and even though Tramadol makes me feel good, it is noticable whenever I forget to take one. I get tired, achy and less alert. This indicates the drug is probably doing more to me than I realize. I have started taking 1/2 pill as of this morning. Will see how it goes.
Hi thanks for your advice I will post on my own thread!! I was told by a doctor that my dose was very low!
Thanks for your time
HI Dekko! You may want to post on your own thread so you can get individualized help. You are on a much higher dose that the OP and I would NOT recommend you coming off c/t. Trams are NO fun coming off at that dose! I would definitely recommend doing a slow taper and if possible I would suggest you speak to your Dr about it so he/she can help. Trams have an antidepressant componant so if you are taking a dose like that and come off too fast, you can risk seizures!
Again, I would suggest starting your own thread so more people can helo you with any questions you may have!
Good luck!
Hi there! At the dose you are on, you could probably stop c/t without much risk, but if you are wanting to cut the pills in half for a while that would certainly be better! Can I ask, why you want to stop? Do you feel your dependent on them?
Hi..
I am taking one 150mg of tramadol per day for back pain for around a year! Do ya think I should taper down or just stop all together?
Thanx for your time!
I have read that Tramadol can be very difficult to come off of, and it should be tapered because of a risk of seizures! That's why I would encourage you to do this with the help and advice of your doctor. However, it appears that you are taking a very low dose, right? I'm hoping withdrawals will not be that bad or that long for you! Take care and good luck! Feel free to keep posting! We will help in any way we can!
Sonrissa... thanks for the encouragement and ideas. I will try the Thomas Recipe. And I have been prescribed Tramadol for recovery from back surgery (discectomy). I hope my withdrawal is less severe than what some have had to deal with. Sounds frightening.
Hi Algrenfan, and welcome! I do not have much experience with Tramadol at all, but many others do and they will weigh in with advice and support! It does not sound like you are on a very high dose at all! Also, it is my understanding the Tramadol should be tapered off of. It sounds like your plan to cut to 1/2 a pill is good! Stay on that for a while and then it should not be that difficult to jump off! I would think that you would have minimal withdrawal symptoms! Please check out the Thomas Recipe, the link is at the bottom of the page, for things you can do to relieve the withdrawal symptoms!
Do you take the Tramadol for pain? Are you getting it from a doctor? Do you still have pain? If possible you should seek advice from a doctor before stopping it! Take care, I wish you all the best! Keep posting for advice and support! Good luck!
