Suboxone

I live in Bermuda and am currently on the only methadone program that is available here.  However, I am a professional who does not like to go to the meth clinic every day to get dosed as our island is only 21 square miles long with a population of 65,000 people.  Sooner or later word will get back to my job and I am at high risk of losing it as I have clients who are HNWI (High Net Worth Individuals) who would not appreciate my background.  I have Canadian Citizenship and am traveling to Canada in December of this year.  I am looking for a doctor who will prescribe me the Suboxone.  I need to know if you can get a prescription for this and if so can you get like monthly refills or how does this program work?  Can someone provide me with some information?  Please!!

Not sure of the rules on Bermuda.  I think that the naabt.org is only good for the main US states.  Check with your doc, he may be able to prescribe like Lee said - if not, he may be able to give you advice on how to get sub or point you in the right direction.  Keep us posted on your progress.

You can look up your Dr and see if he is on the approved Dr's list to prescribe sub. If not you can find a Dr using the Dr locator feature NAABT.org or suboxone.com

Many thanks for your words of wisdom.  I was on heroin using approximately $200.00 a day habit.  I have been on methadone for three years now and am currently on 80 mg a day.  The problem I have is not being on the methadone, the problem is having to go to the meth clinic every single day to be dosed.  I want to be able to get a prescription and pick up a monthly supply, once a month.  Here in Bermuda doctors cannot prescribe methadone.  I am actually going to be speaking with my personal physician on Monday to find out if he can prescribe suboxone or bupranorphine in place of the methadone.  However, I have a bad feeling that like the methadone, doctors here probably are not able to prescribe the bupranorphine or suboxone.  If anyone has any advice I would really appreciate it.  Many thanks again.

Hi SupaT, you best ooption would really be to detox from the Methadone and get clean - Shrimpman is right, Suboxone is just substituting one for another and it is very difficult to detox from, esspecially after long term use.  If detox is not an option at this point, talk with a suboxone doc in Canada - if that is your only option.  Don't you have suboxone on Bermuda as an option?

Shrimpman - way to go, I was wondering how you were doing.  Congrats on your 14 days clean time!
