temesic doseage

I am now down to 3 mg.of methadone, I have temgesic (buphenorphine) tablets and I am wondering if anyone knows the ususal dose to take to control the withdrawal symptoms.  It is the .02mg. pills (sublingual). I took one and it didn't help much. I just want to make sure that I don;t over do it. In a few more weeks I will be completely off of the meth. and then will I have to take a higher doseage of the temgesic?  And how long should I stay on this med, I just want it to help with the end of the withdrawal syptoms.

Hey Tohmas
I was just wondering how that buprenorphine works tokeep someone well who has an opiate addiction. I took Talwin one time while I was on methadone and being an antagonist it put me right into withdrawl! If this stuff is also antagonist I was wondering why it don't just make people sick. Don't know if you know that much about it but thought I'd ask anyway. Catch ya later bro, I'm getting ready to take a ride to Ocean City on my harley with a few friends. Should be a nice putt, at least I'll be out of the house. Take care man

LTA,

I figured I would post a site for you since I have also been looking into this. It is a great site and should answer quite a few of your questions, and anybody else's.

http://buprenorphine.samhsa.gov/

It is a agonist/antagonist so it unique in that it is an opiate, although it doesn't quite give you the buzz at all, more of a feeling of well being from what I have heard here and read. It will also send you into withdrawals if you use while on it. Not that you would want to use while you are on it, also from what I have heard. Since it takes away the cravings.

Here is some copied info on its release and stuff from the site as well.

The Drug Addiction Treatment Act of 2000 (DATA 2000) expands the clinical context of medication-assisted opioid addiction treatment by allowing qualified physicians to dispense or prescribe specially approved schedule III, IV, and V narcotic medications for the treatment of opioid addiction in treatment settings other than the traditional Opioid Treatment Program (i.e., methadone clinic).  In addition, DATA 2000 reduces the regulatory burden on physicians who choose to practice opioid addiction therapy by permitting qualified physicians to apply for and receive waivers of the special registration requirements defined in the Controlled Substances Act.

On October 8, 2002 the Schedule III narcotic medications Subutex
