Withdraws, for me anyhow, were within 3-5 hours and it took about 7 fricken hours for them to get my meds, but man that sure helped (but again, only took edge off)  I'm now about 10 days in and having extreme anxiety (which is when I used most) but I'm trying like you, to get through.  It's rough but have to realize that it doesn't come thru a pill....easy said.

good luck, keep us posted...

You said you friend took 24 and was still lucid. That april i attempted suicide.  I took 40 vicodine and 30 valium and was awake and lucide and know one could tell.  I ended up leter that night being rushed to the emergency room because I got in my car and drove and got in an accident.  Thats whe they found out what I did and pumped my stomache.  I had to stay in a psych hospital for 3 weeks.  So yes it is possible to survive it.  But I do believe god has a part in saving you to because its not your time to go

Thanks for your advise. I'm realy scared. I'm really wanting it right now and I'm trying real hard not to take any. I feel ok so far but it's only the first day. I know I have to quit so I just keep praying.

Question....When do you start feeling withdraws?.....How long does it take?

Philly gal, I am right there with you.  Depression and withdraw... and I live in philly as well.

I have been abusing medication for most of my life.  I used to eat lots of vicodin until I tried oxys then there was no going back.  I got to tell you that you should get your liver checked.  I was told by my doc that my liver is not fuctioning properly anymore. I should add that I used to drink between 6 and 12 beers a night although the doctor was convinced it is because of the pills.

I know that tuffing it out at work can be tuff.  When I desided that I had enough I talked to my boss and he gave me time to get the real help I needed.  that was about 6 months ago and I have since relasped (about 2-3 weeks ago).

I wish you lots of luck. We are all here for you.

Gosh darn it! I am so sorry for the multiple repeated replies!!  (and I'm totally sober! hehe)  I also was hoping the Doc or others might have further info for me on what to expect now that I've officially left detox from Vicodin and have 7 days under my belt.  Today my nerves were wrecked and was so jittery and antsy.  I finally asked the nurse for clonopine so i took one a couple hours ago and that seems to have helped.  Will this go on for some time or will I start to notice a difference in a week or so?  My main concern is this was what really made me reach for another Vicodin and I do have one sitting in my bathroom (I know, I should flush the damn thing down the camode) but haven't and don't want to take it. Geez, think I just gave myself some advice in that last sentence, huh?
Well, would appreciate some further knowledge...

Thanks all..

Mesay,
I am by no means an expert able to give advice, but if you cannot go Cold Turkey (which is very painful for most) or into detox (which I did and it was super beneficial, but still no breeze) try getting the Thomas Recipe (listed on this site in threads many times)
Can anyone post the recipe for Mesay again?

Stay strong, I'm only 7 days clean from Vicodin
