where to start

Ive been taking lortabs for 5yrs,then started perc 10s 325 and  roxi15s for 1-2 yrs. im on the waiting list for suboxone, 4th on the list.in the last month im down to around 2 to 3 15 roxis a day,i am having withdrawal pain from the drop.i was wondering where a good starting point would be on the suboxone and how to get off of it fast, once i get on it.

The problem with using the sub for this purpose is that you will still feel wd when you stop the sub. Sub is still a opiate just acts differently on the brain. Sorry you found some comments rude. we are all different making wd different for many peps. I'm glad you are still down from what you were taking before :) whatever you choose I wish you the very best but mostly freedom from our shared disease of addiction. lesa

i had alot bigger dose than want im down to now, just not very long ago.i was told by a counselor i needed to get my head on straight, i take that he meant something about getting my brain used to functioning with out what i had been taking for years.im not afraid of the flu,the symtoms i have now are worse than the flu.i went through 2 days of withdrawal full blown, did not work,i actually did not care if i died and i would explain it as hell on earth.im not the type of person who anyone would expect to hear that from. i do know it would be more than 2-3 days of the flu that i could handle.i would think my body is still trying to get over the drop from at least 6 perc 10s on top of the 2-3 15s every day.some of the comments seemed rather rood. i thought maybe suboxone would get me through the worst part of the wds,i did not plan on staying on it long term,so i didnt figure there would be any wds from it.

ur roxi dose is low
what r u afraid of? The flu?
U r willing to jump on a powerhouse narcotic to avoid feeling flu-like for a few days?
Dunno..sounds a bit desperate to me but 45 mgs of oxycodone is just not huge....most here r on way more or were on way more and we managed without a crutch to dig us into deeper doo doo
have u educated urself on whet u r contemplating doing/using sub?  I hope some here  who r wd-ing from this power narcotic warn u bout this choice for a 45 mg habit.  Is it that u need narcotics for life?  if not u will have to taper and stop sub one day and sub wd can make a 45 mg oxy habit look like a picnic
what r u afraid of?  I would be afraid of suboxone but we r all different

You could just stop now, and you could avoid the sub withdrawals that would surely be worse!  It will be harder to stop than what you are on now.  At this point, you would be sick for 3 or 4 days for the worst of it.  Then you will gradually get better after that.  Sub takes much longer.

The answer to your original question is that you need to just do what the sub doc recommends.  Ask him/her how you can take it for the least amount of time possible.  But, I'm telling you, if you do the wds now and get them over with, they won't be as bad as you might think.  The dread is the worst part!!! : )

Good luck!  You are doing the right thing by stopping the pills!

as bucksfan said you are at a point of your taper that you could take the leap.. if you are getting them from a Dr. you can go tp him and say you are stopping them and he can offer meds like clonidine to help.. there are also over the counter meds that help us. things like hot showers baths lots of walks these sort of things if you were to stop today you would have about 5 days of wd 3 and day 4 are the worst by a lot of peps standards.. I myself came off taking 25 to 30 norco a day coupled with soma and found the same.. if you continue to taper you will eventually level out on the dose you are on then you drop again. our keep a aggressive taper going it will prolong you feeling the wd you do now but it may help when you stop.. many choices but they all lead to the same thing. Freedom of Emotion and Body..

I dont know much about Sub's or any alternative methods besides Cold Turkey or a self taper. I dont think 2 to 3 15s a day is a "strong" addiction. It is an addiction but I think you will find that most on here were taking well over 100mg a day. I never got that high and usually always stopped at about 40 mg a day. If you are just worried about the WD's they may not be to bad or bad enough to require subs. I know WD's effect each person differently so it could be horrid for you but not to me. I personally think that your dosage is not that bad compared to most addicts so you may just want to continue the taper yourself. I always found that faster is better because I am soooo impatient! I am not an expert so please take anything I have to say with a grain of salt. I believe WD's effect each person different so what I say could not pertain to you in anyway.

Hi cdp.. are you wanting you use the sub to not feel wd then get off the sub ? as sub has it's own set of wd that are of longer duration.. the sub program is for the benefit of treatment coupled with therapy and a break from our disease to live without craving to sorta get use to living on life's terms.. but once again then it is a long process in a taper and then the inevitable wd.. some also use it for pain although not all feel the benefits of this.. You are doing Great with your own taper !! If you could continuing cutting out 1/2 when your wd pains level out you could do this on your own without the expense our having to do it twice.. just a thought. I Congratulate you on your desire to get clean !! It is worth it :) lesa
