withdrawals and antidep.

I am now on day 25 of cold turkey stopping tramadol. A new doctor put me on fluoxetine/prozac 20mg.s a day. I have been taking it now for 6 days. I am just not sure if if it helping me to feel any better. I am taking it at night because it makes me drowsy. I am still pretty drowsy all day and then in the evening I am feeling anxiety....my pupils will be dialated too. Last night my fiance asked me if I was taking tramadol because I was acting pretty flakey, amd my pupils were so big. I couldnt do anything to control it. Am I making a bad situation worse by taking this? If anyone has experience with this please let me know. I could use any input or advise. I have not ever taken AD's before. A friend told me to give the AD a little more time but I just dont know how long I stay feeling tired and anxious. Thanks!

Thanks to everyone for your responses. It really does help. It is now day 26. I honestly cant believe I have made it this long. I am feeling better I wasnt so anxious last night THANK YOU LORD!!!! I just have to keep it in my head that I took tramadol for years and I wont feel better over night. I just want it to stop whispering in my head "you could feel better instantly if you took just one". Thankfully I dont have any and can not get any. It helps that pretty much everyone in my life knows about my problem and I dont have to pretend I feel perfect and happy. One long slow day at a time right? I hope the best for you all too!

fatigue for me lasted close to 3 months...was hardest part for me as i am a very active person..on ills i was the energizer bunny..til the end they made me yuck...it is hard to feel like a zombie and exercise helped me along with the aminos...on prozac u would need to ask ur pharmacist which ones are safe for u to take as that is a strong AD....if it doesnt let up ask him to try something a bit lighter...it is hard to find the right AD..and sometimes we just dont really need one....be safe and hang in there

just keep up the good work and stay off the trams. i quit cold turkey also from trams about 12 a day or less and i know how you feel. the depression is the worst besides the no sleep for a long time but give it time and things will get back to normal.slow and steady will do it. not sure if the anti deps are the best but your doc would know. just know it takes time for the body to heal itself.i didnt want the anti deps because i just wanted my body to function and regulate on its own again.it took time but was so worth it and now i know i will never go back to those ugly pills.hope the best for you and wish you well on your recovery.

Thanks for the reply. Yes...maybe I am being a little bit impatient. I guess I was just hoping I would take this AD and I would just start feeling better right away. Im just tired of not feeling like myself and motivated. Its just so hard not to think at times during the day that if I had just one tramadol to take I could feel so much better. But, I dont...so I cant. It just plain *****!!!

By the way, anxiety is also a symptom of withdrawals as well!  :)

Notramnomore:
The fatigue is most likely from the withdrawals, but maybe you should speak with your doctor about it.  I used Paxil many years ago and never had trouble with it causing fatigue but everyone is different.

Congrats are quitting trammies cold turkey - that's a very difficult drug to withdrawal from and I'm proud of you for making that choice.

On the bottom right hand corner there are suggestions on how to help with withdrawals.  One is the Thomas Recipe and one is the Amino Acid protocol.

Good luck!!!
