how to take cortisol being hypothyroid

I want to try treating my adrenals by myself since no Australian doctor knows how to treat a person with adrenal fatigue and is also hypothyroid and they don't know that taking thyroid meds makes adrenals worse!

However, I don't know how to do it. I know I have to stop taking thyroid meds but how long for?? I'm taking 6mg of HC now, how much do I increase it by each day?? and how quickly do you decrease and by how much???

I believe I also need aldoesterone but getting a doctor/endo to prescribe it is like pulling teeth. My skin colour got darker (a nice tan all over, including areas where there is no sun exposure), sure looks nice..but it's not normal!!!! I have lost a lot of weight....I now realised that it's also not normal and due to adrenal fatigue which doctos ignore... This by the way, it's the only good thing about having adrenal fatigue. I feel so tired I can't work anymore and I can't be bothered doing anything or going anywhere...

I have tried herbs and they didn't do anything. Maybe because of thyroid meds. I take about 100g of B5 and 1000mg of Vit C. Should I take more??

Urine test showed that I was under range for sodium even though I drink celtic salt with water!! my doctor doesn't believe me of course..... anyway, I am taking more salt now. My growth hormone is way high... don't know what that means. I am still waiting on urine aldosterone results. They told me they don't do them often so they have to wait until there is lots to do, to do them all at once.

If someone could help that would be great. Thanks.

I have found a wealth of information on treating my adrenal insufficiency by conversing with Dr Rodger Murphree at WWW. TREATINGANDBEATING.COM. He will answer any question you ask him by email or phone. He has a very informative website to offer.

Good luck with that. I haven't found anyone to help me with adrenal issues. So I just research and am treating myself.

I also suffer from hypothyroidism and adrenal fatigue. For the thyroid I take iodine (no meds) and for adrenal fatigue I take 1000 mg. of vitamin B5 daily. It has helped enormously. But you must take it for months. There are no side effects. By the way I am a lightweight. If you are a larger woman you may need 1500 mg.

I take thyroid meds and adrenal meds. I have heard people talk of an issue, but personally, I need and take both, no issue at all.

Are you taking HC in what form - cortef? The corticosteroids come in many forms, many different half-lifes. It is ACTH that causes the skin darkening - the first 15 molecules of ACTH are the same as melanin, and so when ACTH is high, it tans the skin. Aldosterone is part of the salt issue - you need that to hold on to salt and maintain a normal blood pressure. I find salt tablets help more than drinking salt.

If your growth hormone is high - are you talking GH or IGF-1? That is indicative of acromegaly. Your doctor should be shot for ignoring that . Have they run a pituitary MRI? Can you find a neuro-endo? Go to a university for an endo?
