Can too much cortisol make you toxic ?

Hi its me again since being on the cortisol have had two episodes were I have felt very un-well, yesterday went to the Dr's and blood pressure was raised and pulse very high he told me to reduce to 10 mgs. Just wondering about
the ACTH stimulation test in the leg if you were taking too much would it build up in your system? and could the test results be affected ? I was told not to have any tablets after the morning before the test. Seems odd that the bloods said insufficient at 55 and yet tests were in the normal range, whatever normal is!!

Thankyou so much for that information makes me feel as if i'm not going mad. These Dr's would be more sympathetic and not number crunchers if they had a taste of our illness or a loved one did. They just see us as numbers and test results it makes me want to scream its so frustrating!!
Since my cortisol has been lowered from 10mgs in morning and 5mgs of an evening to just 10 mgs at present. I went to bed at 5.30 pm last night then got up for two hours 7 - 9 then went back to bed
till 12, how depressing.
Is there another choice of tablets instead of hydrocortisone and do alot of people get high B/P. Is it trial and error getting the right tablet dose??

I ran across a Dutch study to test a new study on emphysema. Only those applicants who had been without steroid therapy for at least a month would be considered. that tells us something.

Not a poser have just been in a thyroid support group and have information off friend if you take too much thyroxine you can get toxic this just means your over active and have a build up of thyroxine in your system and your system goes over-active instead of under. It means excess is not converting in your body.
So I wondered if you take too much steroid if it can stay in your system for longer so the ACTH stimulation test could be incorrect because of it staying in your system??
My friend said today they are doing studies into how long steroids and valium stays in the system but she said results will not be out for a few years fat lot of good that will do us at present.
