Help with test results

Hi all,
Has anyone had their Adrenal glands tested to see whether their cortisol is high/low?
I took a private ASI (Saliva test) in April, and the results came back asVery low, all through the day. I took them to my GP and he said he wasnt familiar with the test! He eventually had my morning cortisol bloods taken and that came out too high??? I`m confused, Has anyone had this, or does anyone know why they are two extremes? I still feel so i`ll :-(

D3 is excellent. I take a lot myself and it will help. As well the Bs will help. Glad you are doing better!

I don't know what POF or PCOs are.  I assume that "HRT" is hormone replacement.  If your estradiol is high and your testosterone is high, what sort of HRT are they offering you?  Just progesterone?

I just located a Naturopathic Doctor (ND) who had me do saliva testing for an adrenal panel.  One problem with that is that I barely produce any saliva, and my morning sample looked like there was very little liquid in it.  I mailed it in anyway to see the results.  Since I am sick of going from MD to MD for all my various problems, for now I plan on sticking with my new ND and the health food store owner who recommended him to me.  He put me on 5000mg Vitamin D3 per day, and my neverending depression basically stopped on a dime.  I was so amazed.  I am also taking stronger multi-vitamins which contains a lot of Vitamin Bs at high levels.  I feel like I am getting energy back and concentration too.  I have fibro badly and my fog was affecting me in such a negative way.  To wake up and be able to think is my newest blessings.
I'll see how the rest of the testing goes and what else he might be putting me on.  I now take Cod Liver oil as part of my gastro treatment along with a probiotic and enzymes (carefully selected by the ND/health food store owner). They work together as she was tought by the ND's predecessor.  I am feeling less crazy and more like an improved patient!!

Sorry - I don't know what POF is...
HRT may be a bad idea - it always was a bad idea for me too - and since you have high female hormones, adding to it will just add fuel to the fire. Eh, I vote no.

It sounds like you do have a cortisol issue - and that it centers around high cortisol likely, but you sadly have high CBG... BTW, the depression is a symptom.

I would read up further on Cushing's.

Hi Rumpled, and thankyou for your reply.
I`m not on any other meds apart from Seroxat (for depression).
Here in the UK GPs only test for Addisons or Cushings, and nothing in between.
I`m also under a Gynea who say i may have POF, this is why i want to also sort my adrenals out as they are offering me HRT, and i do not want this to "Muck up" my adrenals further, as i am pretty sure that theres something else going on with my endocrine system, other than my womens hormones, but nobody listens. I was given a ultra scan because my testosterone is also very high, but ive been told i havent got PCOS, my Oestradiol is also high. I really am so confused, and feel so ill.

Best wishes
Caz

The blood test is for serum cortisol - the saliva is for free cortisol. If you happen to have high cortisol binding globulin (or if you are on birth control, or other medications that bind free cortisol), you will not test high for saliva or urine as that type of cortisol will be bound so you may be plenty sick, but it will not show up in the test simply by the nature of the test.

If your doctor was an expert, he would know that. He should test CBG and figure it out. GPs are not experts - you need to find someone that knows Cushing's. And you need a good person as if they give you a 24hour UFC, likely you will be normal and they will say you are ok! When you are not.
