Please help...just got results
I just have the 24 hour saliva cortisol test. I am so so exhausted and dizzy, my body temp is 96.8, my heart rate is down to 50s. I also have hashimotos disease with low thyroid. I am having sever panic attacks and shakey all day. My saliva levels were:
Morning: 1.4 ( range 3.7-9.5)
Afternoon: .4 (range 1.2-3.0)
Evening: .7 (range .6-1.9)
Night: .4 (range .4-1.0)
My DHEAS was 5 and noted low for my age. Are saliva tests as serious as blood tests? Are my levels low enough that I should go to the ER? My naturopath ordered the, and he is out of town. I am just scared and exhausted and tired and cold and panicky:( thanks!

That is bunk. Plenty of people take thyroid and adrenal meds. I do daily. I know hundreds like me.
A thanks so much for the response. I have internal trembling and I am so so weak especially in the morning. I know this can be my thyroid too but they took me off of meds. I guess if your adrenals are bad you can't tolerate them. I am in the middle of a move waiting for my insurance to set me up with new docs so I am in limbo dr wise at the moment. Thanks again for your response.
Unfortunately the ER is set up for a lot of things - like car wrecks and heart attacks, but not set up to diagnose and treat.
Saliva tests can be very accurate - but one set of testing - IMHO - is not enough to diagnose. Plus you need other testing like blood tests for cortisol and ACTH, stim testing to show how your adrenals work under stress. You also need to know your sodium and potassium, and you need to know if you need to increase sodium and/or potassium. AI is a salt wasting disease so you may need another medication to hold sodium. Do you crave salt? If so, please consume as much as you want. I have to add salt to my food and take salt tablets.
Your diagnosis should be made by an endo, not a naturopath. If you go on replacements, you need meds by script (prescription), an emergency kit, and you need monitoring. As AI can be life threatening and you need to know how to stress dose etc. you really need a smart doctor - you need a good doctor on your side.
Please find a doctor - you need several sets of tests, and you need more testing than just cortisol.
