Ok thank you for your replies
Have you had the saliva testing done? If you do decide to do this, you will need to be off of the dexamethazone for a certain period of time before testing. Not quite sure how long, but I do know you need to be off of this and other products such as licorice root.
Go find another test - and find a doctor that knows at least the basics. I had Cushing's. I know hundreds of people who have it or had it - and this is probably the least reliable test but even if that is your only doctor, you can google the Cushing's syndrome protocol and a few years ago, there was a protocol that three types of tests had to be used before the doc could say that and he then had to have no more clinical suspicion - so er, he is what I call an endummy.
Go forth and find someone with a brain and experience.
Was not told to fast! He us gonna do a trial run of thyroxine to see if it helps me feel better? No T3 test was done........just feel like I don't understand so can't question him?? But he says it is not cushings x
The dex should have been at 11. So the entire test was done incorrectly. You were supposed to be fasting for the draw too. Why did they not give you better instructions?
Took the dex at 10pm the previous evening?? Do the cortisol results tell you anything?
Your doctor ran one test to see if you had Cushing's syndrome. So he gave you the dexamethasone suppression test. With incorrect directions - your draw should have been at 8am - what time did you take the dex? He is probably using this as a test of exclusion, but experts use this as a test of location of the source of cortisol. One test does not rule Cushing's in or out. I failed this dex test (all of them actually) but still had it. Many of my friends did as well.
Find another doctor. Even the new protocol says test with three different things. He did not.
The thyroid tests are useless - he should be running free T3, Free T4, antibodies, etc.
