What to expect

My husband has been drinking for approx 20 years.  Only drinks beer, but about a 12 pack a day.  He has a couple before work, doesn't drink at work, then starts again when he gets home early in the evening until he goes to bed.  The court ordered him on home electronic monitoring and no drugs or alcohol for 30 days, so he has to quit cold turkey.  What can I expect and how do I know if he needs medical attention or if this is something he can go through at home?

symptoms for me started in 3 days....they got real bad for two weeks after that..and symptoms were bad for 4 months..i still have symptoms....i would say be ready to get help...withdrawl can get so hard to take and dangerous..it might not be too bad you'll have to see...google in alcohol withdrawal symptoms...and don't be hard on folks on this forum..they have lot's of sh-- going on...hope your husband quits and he's lucky to have you to help him....billy
