Allergic to gluten?

Ive been feeling really bad lately. Vomiting, nausea, constipation, sore back/shoulders, fatigue, shortness of breath. This has been going on a few weeks. I saw a dr and he believes it's ibs. I haven't tried an elimination diet but I'm going to give it a shot starting tomorrow. I know these symptoms can be a number of things but I keep feeling funky after eating.  I always had a sensitive stomach for as long as I can remember. Any advice, feedback or support is appreciated.

Sounds like some hidden food allergies to me or even tired adrenal glands. When your adrenal glands are not up to their full potential, you can experience symptoms similar to what you wrote.

I would definitely try a form of elimination diet starting with wheat, yeast and gluten, also sugar, see how you feel after about 2 to 3 weeks of this. Also, add a good, multi-vitamin/mineral complex to your diet, with an emphasis on "B" vitamins, mainly, Pantothenic Acid. All this should start helping after a few weeks.

As the above poster stated, don't worry about what others think. It is none of their business, they are not the ones experiencing what you are. I remember a long time ago, I was with my aunt and uncle, and for some stupid reason, my vitamins and such "upset" them when I took them. This caused a great deal of stress and I finally moved back home. To this day, it still irritates me. It also irritates me when folks do not believe you have food allergies and they get miffed if you do not eat like they "think" you should. GRRRRRRRR, how dare they.

I would go with how you feel after eating gluten.  This is a strong indicator that you are at least sensitive to it.  Don't worry about what the tests say or don't say or whether or not the doctors believe you.  I've gone through the same stuff.  Some doctors want to believe it's a fad thing to eliminate gluten from the diet, but it's not.  People really do feel ill after eating gluten.

Some in alternative medicine also believe that IBS could actually be a less severe form of Celiac.  Most in conventional medicine do not believe they might be the same thing.  Plus, I believe it's possible to have both Celiac and IBS at the same time, which is what I believe I'm dealing with.  

Food allergies and sensitivities definitely play a role in both problems.  Just different kinds of food allergies and sensitivities.  Celiac is specifically gluten and sometime gluten/cassein, so don't be surprised if you find that dairy is a problem, especially fermented dairy such as cheese.

Nevermind the doubters who want to sneer at you or downplay how you feel, even in your personal life.  You know how you feel.  I'm fortunate that the one family member I do have anything to do with doesn't doubt the gluten issue one bit, since his own son was diagnosed with Celiac and he himself has gluten intolerance.  Our parents are not so supportive, but that's a separate issue.  Some aren't as fortunate in this area as I am, but I do understand, because the one family member wasn't always this supportive about food sensitivities himself.  He is more so now.

You know your own body and how you feel after consuming certain types of food.  As with any other type of food that bothers you, you should feel free to eliminate a certain type of food from your diet without people scorning you.  Why some people feel it's okay to treat others this way about gluten but not necessarily other foods is beyond me, since it's really the same thing.  But, there are people who are both opinionated and ignorant at the same time who feel entitled to question people who say they feel better not eating gluten.  Ignore these people.  It's not their colon or digestive tract, so they have no business trying to impose their will on you.
