You might also want to find out if you have Celiac's Disease. (If you do, do not go by the blood test as it is not very sensitive.) For medicine the gold standard is an upper endoscopy. If you plan on going that route do not quit eating gluten. Because you need to be eating it for the diagnosis. If you do not, quit gluten for about a month and see how you do. Hello and hope you are doing well.
It could be due to an allergic reaction. It may help to maintain a food dairy and keep monitoring your symptoms. This will help to narrow the search and avoid them.
But, abdominal bloating can happen with consumption of excess sugars, indigestion and aerophagia. It could also be due to Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), malabsorbtion, inflammatory bowel diseases and various infections of the colon. Blood tests will help detect infections, besides stool examination which will reveal fat malabsorbtion. Colonoscopy and flexible sigmoidoscopy are procedures which are used to study the whole colon for infections and inflammations. Bacterial overgrowth is tested with a breath test. Please discuss these issues with your primary care physician when you happen to meet him.
Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Hey Sean,
Welcome to the forum.
Gut dysbiosis! Possibly leaky gut syndrome as well.
Unfortunately there is no medicinal treatment for this.
If you want to get your life back, look into the GAPS diet and the
and the Specific Carbohydrate Diet.
Consumption of Carbohydrates is the main cause of your troubles.
If you can try one of the above diets for a week or two you will see
a phenomenal improvement. It is very tough to do it though, so if you think you are up to it, just prepare yourself mentally.
Carbs are like drugs-highly addictive and dangerous! (Unlike what most people think)
Don't take my word for it. Do the research and after take the
low/no carb challenge. This means no cereals, breads, bagels, buns,
donuts, potato chips, cookies, dairy, cakes, sodas, sugar, sandwiches, alcohol, pancakes, biscuits, pies, pretzels, etc.
Must adhere to it religiously, otherwise your body reverts immediately back to its chaotic state.
Post again if you have any questions or to give update.
Blessings,
Nikodicreta
