Yes it is exactly Pompholyx eczema my doc gave it a look and said thats what it was. she gave me some hand cream called triamcin and she told me to use gloves when washing dishes!
Hello,
From these symptoms it looks like pompholyx or dyshidrotic eczema. It is characterized by a sudden onset of many deep-seated pruritic, clear vesicles which itch and then peel off. As a result the skin may also fissure.
The exact cause is not known and excessive sweating can be one of the reasons. But some triggers like allergic reaction to soaps, detergents, foods, latex, nickel etc may trigger the symptoms. Apply some calamine lotion on the affected area and keep the area well moisturized. Use only thin applications of moisturizer ointments as excessive amounts of ointment may restrict breathing of the skin and aggravate the condition.
Topical steroids can be applied but they are available under prescription. Moreover to prevent infection, topical antibiotics may be needed. I suggest you to consult a dermatologist and get it evaluated.
I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
Great news.
Please let us know how the treatment works. If it doesn't work in a couple of weeks, be sure to let your doctor know. It can take a while to find the correct medication(s) sometimes.
I am a little surprised with the medication. It doesn't end in "-sone" which is the typical ending for a steroid. Steroids creams are pretty standard treatment for eczema. I don't remember how many were tried on my daughter before we settled on her current treatment. Yours sounds more like an antibiotic cream. hmmm....
Well, if it works that is all that matters.
Thanks for posting back.
God bless.
I went to my doc today she examined it an she its pomphylox dishydrotic eczema and she told me to wear gloves when i wash dishes and she gave me a cream to help called triamcin
Hello and welcome to the community.
You should see your doctor about this. You will probably be referred to a dermatologist. If you insurance will allow you to just go ahead and see a dermatologist, you might as well do that. It sounds like eczema or psorisis or something else along those lines. Maybe even some sort of infection. A dermatologist would be the best to help you. You will most likely need some sort of prescription cream, maybe with a steroid cream.
I hope that helps you some.
Let us know what the doctor says.
Take care and God bless.
It is good that you have been diagnosed. For pompholyx, symptoms can be exacerbated by dryness of the skin. Use good quality moisturizers to prevent moisture loss from the skin.
If they prove unsuccessful, then Light treatment: UVA-1, PUVA, Grenz rays, Low Level Light Therapy using a Red + NIR (LED) combination can be used. For recalcitrant cases, corticosteroids combined with immunosuppressants may be used. In addition, you can apply aloe vera to the hands. It will help.
It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your dermatologist. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
