Ithcy Reddish skin

Hi,

I am having this skin itching problem for a week now. Suddenly red bumps appear on hands and feet and skin has intense itching. Some times I have swolen lips. Could it be Hives? This problem appears during night time only.
Taking Zyrtec provides relief, should I continue to take Zyrtec.

Also it is now two weeks I missed my period. Though pregancy tests are negative should I continue to take Zyrtec. Would that affect my health if I am pregnant.

Hi,
Claritin is a antihistamine used in treating allergy symptoms, while prednisolone is a steroid. There are no reported interactions between these two drugs on concomitant use of these drugs. Use of drugs like erythromycin, ketoconazole, amiodarone and cimetidine with Claritin should be used with caution as they inhibit the elimination of Claritin and increase it’s activity. Hope this helps. Best.

Hi,
Yes, what you are experiencing could be hives as their occurrence is all of a sudden and regress with use of antihistamines. They manifest with itchy red bumps all over the body and usually appear due to allergy or use of any new medicine or infection. They can also occur with out any cause and disappear on their own. But it is always better to see a dermatologist for preventing serious consequences and confirmation of diagnosis.
Zyrtec is not harmful to the unborn baby if you are pregnant, but should not be used if you are breast feeding as the drug passes through breast milk. Consult a dermatologist for further assistance on this. Best.
