Hi,

All recent blood tests normal.  I take vit A daily along with a b complex and calcium and E.  I think I have been drinking enough water, Seems to be getting better since our air quality has improved.  If I am not out in the smoky air seems to be better,  today was outside and tonight pretty itchy.

Benedryl helps.  What is cetrizine?  Is it available without a prescription?

thanks,

Hi,

When was the last time you had your kidney function tests done?
It is possible that accumulation of creatinine or uric acid in the body, in presence of impaired kidney function or dehydration, can also cause itching and sores.

Exercise has also been known to induce such as rash and itching.

If possible, apply olive oil and massage into your skin at bedtime or as often as possible.
Olive oil has antibacterial and antifungal agents that heal skin naturally.

You can also take cetrizine twice daily until the rash improves.

Do keep fluid intake over 2000 ml per day.
Vitamin C helps increase mucosal and skin integrity and you can add supplements of vitamins C and A to your diet.

My asthma medicin is combivent inhaler.  I also take a diaretic and blood pressure meds.  my doc took me off linsinopril and put me on benicar, and prednisone to stop itching.  it hasnt worked at all.  It has been very poor air quality in california due to all of our fire, and she says I could be allergic to some of the particulates in the smoke.  I have been putting Sarna Lotion on the itchy spots, belly legs back and arms, which alleviates some of the irritation but not for very long.  Any other suggestions?
Thanks, Solo57

Hi,

Does your asthma medication contain a steroid?
Is it inhaled medication or oral?

It is possible that long-term use of certain medications can cause some skin conditions to develop.
Steroid use over a period of time predisposes to fungal infection also.

Do check whether there is a variation in itching at different parts of the day or with exercise.

Meanwhile, you can use natural olive or coconut oil as these will reduce the itching and have antibacterial and antifungal effect on local application.

Do keep us posted on your doubts and progress.
