I also have a deviated septum...and the chronic sinusitis is only when the yellow mucus appears...I think as I have gotten older its has gotten worse and might now need that new ballon procedure for the sinus...avelox and levaquin are like poison to me after being on them for so many weeks,,,anxiety,fatigue...insomnia...restlessness stomach upset...elevated heart rate...floroquines are bad...I still feel effects weeks after stopping them...I hope thats all it is...thanks Doctor...
also...tomorrow I will be going to my GP and let him decide if I need any more antibiotics...and get some blood work done. Most think the sinus infection is a result of some of the aching armpits and today it wasnt too bad...could be muscle strain too...I do alot of manual work lately and am out of shape weighing 194 at 5 ft 7...used to work out like crazy but havent in a long while...my waist is still only 34 but its all fat accumulated around my upper body and stomach...definetly need to drop 10 to 15 pounds...high cholesterol and blood pressure too but not enough yet for meds...if I drop weight my GP said both will be alot better....hopefully that really bad cold that hit my sinuses is resolving itself...felt weak while it was in full effect and still not 100 percent.
Some times deviated nasal septum can be the root cause for the sinusitis. Get evaluated and if needed get operated by ENT specialist...
This can be associated with postnasal drip and throat clearing. This can in turn irritate the throat lining. You need to send the sputum or throat swab for culture, microscopy, staining to rule out the specific pathogen with antibiotic sensitivity and should also take chest radiograph. Antibiotic sensitivity of culture will decide the effective drug.
Persistent yellow mucus is a sign that our body is being attacked by either a bacteria or a virus.
A recurring condition with the presence of yellow mucus can also signify that there may be some other underlying problem in the respiratory system also.
Nasal decongestants, antibiotics, steam inhalations will help you. I suggest you to consult ENT specialist. Take care and regards.
