Alternative Treatments for Deabilitating Anxiety?

I'm suffering from Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Social Anxiety Disorder, OCD, and Tourettes Syndrome. It started out with Tourettes and OCD but as i've gone through some trauma GAD and SAD has developed and is destroying me. As of right now i'm taking Lexapro, Busiprone, Xanax (as needed), and Gabapentin. I'm 18 years old and i'm having great difficulties even finishing with online classes. I seek assistance for alternative medications or treatments that may help these symptoms. I simply wish i could be my old self like 3 years ago. I'm almost a completely different person now..Please help if you could. Thanks, Jordan.

I also agree with Caregiver about EMF's there is much out there about them...cut back on any electrics you have in the house if you can and also don't live near any pylons with transmitters..

Hey thank-you all for your splendid suggestions! I found that magnetic field concept to be especially interesting as well btw! I am a big believer in natural remedies and am considering Ayahuasca from South America which is known for treating depression etc by fighting your sub-conscious ailments. Kind of fascinated me a bit. But yea, SSRIs unfortunately tend to give me a lot of bad side effects and i easily get serotonin overload which makes me feel tense, more depressed, and shaky. Might be because im still young and hormonal, not quite sure. But thanks again fellow medhelpers! ;) If you have have any issues yourself you can ask me about different disorders too because i tend to know a lot about psychology, neuroscience, and medicines as well.

Something natural, you can do to help your body relax and fight the anxiety.Do this breathing technique, twice a day. The effect is gradual, so allow weeks to notice the benefit, but you will get sleep within days, when you can do more than 15 minutes.
Build up your timing gradually. If you feel tired or dizzy, stop and resume after one minute.Keep your eyes closed and concentrate on the third eye(between your  eyebrows)
Anulom Vilom pranayam –
Close your right nostril with thumb and deep breath-in through left nostril
then – close left nostril with two fingers and breath-out through right nostril
then -keeping the left nostril closed  deep breath-in through right nostril
then - close your right nostril with thumb and breath-out through left nostril.
This is one cycle of anulom vilom.
Repeat this cycle for 15 to 30  minutes twice a day.
Children under 15 years – do 5 to 10 minutes twice a day.
You can do this before breakfast/lunch/dinner or before bedtime or in bed.Remember to take deep long breaths into the lungs. You can do this while sitting on floor or chair or lying in bed.

Let me know your progress, then I will suggest more techniques to help you.

I should have added, see a doctor who specializes in natural medicine, not just a doctor.  Sorry.  And should also have added, natural medicine doesn't just mean remedies, it also includes meditation, exercise, dietary changes, and the like.  As I said, a big commitment, but also an adventure.

As a fellow sufferer, this is a very difficult set of problems you have.  There is no magic pill or magic natural remedy.  The natural approach is difficult and time consuming, and requires a combination of remedies that require trial and error to find something that works, and even then nothing might work.  Just as with medication.  The only "cure" is through therapy, but that also takes a lot of trial and error before finding the right therapist, and all of this requires a commitment on your part to do a lot of difficult work.  And you also have the Tourette's, which I know nothing about as to how anything natural would help.  Since you're not familiar with natural remedies -- and please, avoid all those websites offering direct marketing of magic formulas, they don't use the proper quality ingredients, they mix ingredients that need to be taken at different times for optimal effects -- I'd advise you first read a book called Natural Highs by Hyla Cass, a psychiatrist at UCLA, for an overview of what was available a few years ago and then find yourself a doctor or naturopath who can help guide you through this.  Consider, too, that the meds you're on are not easy to stop taking, and you can't take most natural remedies while you're taking what you're taking since they often affect the same neurotransmitters.  Also, remember that nobody knows what causes anxiety disorders -- there is no evidence serotonin is any lower in people with them than people without them, we just know that sometimes increasing the effectiveness of serotonin usage can help with symptoms but it can also make the brain have a harder time returning to normal without that help.  So dig in, do some homework, and look at this as beginning a process of hard work.  And you won't find the answers on this or any other website.  Good luck to you.

I was going to mention also that Hypnotherapy, EFT, Reiki and Energy Psychotherapy (I use all those in my Holistic practice) are great ways
to achieve lasting results as they work at a deeper level than supplements and
drugs. In some cases a combo is necessary , when there are deficiencies and imbalances.
Hope this helps.

Hey Jordano,
This is from an earlier post of mine that applies just the same to you.

"A natural formula -non prescription- for depression and anxiety is Amoryn.
You can check it out for yourself.  It sounds like a good bet.
With a 60 day money back,$60.00 cost for 2 months,
free shipping (in the U.S.), much more effective than prescription drugs, and less side effects.
( how do some of those drugs get approvals to go to market, still puzzles me! )
There are many other holistic remedies and protocols, however,
easy does it.
The easier and more convenient for the sufferer, the greater the potential it will be helpful at the end.
Should you be interested in other ones, let me know."

Blessings

Try going out to the country where there are no magnetic fields, or do so by sailing. I was briefly involved in a study measuring electrical fields and collecting data on patients with anxiety disorder, and there was remission in some cases when they were far away from electrical fields. Try hot sauna baths and massage, especially the Korean massage called "step-step" where they walk on your back, legs and arms.
