I am glad the initial EMG didn't show anything. Try not to drive yourself crazy with worry. I know it is hard (as I have been there too), but as I mentioned in a previous post on this forum, worry is like paying interest on a debt you may never owe. Just use this as a wake up call to focus on what is really important in your life. I am doing fine (and thanks for asking). I was diagnosed 8 months ago. It took 18-24 months from my intial symtoms to the ALS diagnosis. I am one of the lucky ones as it is moving slowly through me (normally the time frame from symtoms to diagnosis is much shorter). I have weakness in one calf. thigh, and hand, and in my tongue. I am still able to work and enjoy my family.I have great doctors (who are on the cutting edge of ALS research), strong faith, and am really doing ok. I wish you the very best and let us know how your visit in two months goes-
Thank you so much for the response. I saw the neuro a few day ago. He said the EMG looked fine but would like to see me in two months. I really will be worried for the entire two months. The twitching in my right calve is driving my crazy. I feel it in my neck, arms other leg too. How are you doing? How long ago were you diagnosed with als and how long did it take? Thank You again for your help.
you are doing the right thing seeing a neuro. Twitching can be caused by a variety of things and many aren't serious (like anxiety or benign fasiculation syndrom). However, when combined with the soreness , I'm glad you are seeing a specialist. I have ALS and never had any real soreness except after exercising. So I don't think you have ALS (plus you would be young to have als). Best of luck and please let us know what the neuro says-
