Hi, I've been reading these forums for about 6 months. This is my first post. It seems that for the past 18 months or so, I've been on this constant path of self-diagnosis. I started with ALS, and then MS, and then others. I've now come full circle and I'm back to ALS.
For the past 8-10 months, I've had a scalloped tongue which "quivers" when I stick it out. I've noticed no loss of strength or difficulty swallowing. Sometimes when I look at it, it seems less "scalloped" than others.
Also, I have periods of constant twitching, primarily in my legs but not exclusively.
About two months ago, I started feeling heat sensations on my outer right leg below the knee. Outer, meaning the front, not the back.
I've been to the GP and he did basic nerve tests. At the time I was concerned about MS and his opinion was that I did not have MS. All my reflexes were normal, although I have noticed since then a weird reflex in my neck (both sides). If I tap the side of my neck with two fingers, my repective shoulder "jumps" somewhat. Could that be a "brisk reflex?"
Regarding weakness, I haven't really noticed anything unusual. In fact, due to paranoia, I've been working out more and actually feel stronger than ever.
All in all, my question is does this sound like early ALS.
