LIMP front leg in adult lhasa apso

My dog... a 4 year old...has developed a lim in his r front leg.  Vet seen and xrays are clear for breaks and bone lesions.  RX rimadly for 2 weeks and rest.  His limp is pronounced when he first gets up from laying down and he limps a little bit then is fine.  he even runs like a bat out of hell without any effort.
What could this be?  Osteoarthritis is possible but should have shown up in xray.

No, but she did take a view of the contralateral side.

The lateral aspect of this leg at the elbow is larger on this side. He is 4 days into the rimadyl regimen.
