My pet died suddenly

My sweet sweet dog passed away on 1/19. He was up to date on all vaccines and had no health problems. My husband was home with him when he said that my boy was lying down resting and seemed to do a very large stretch. My husband told him, wow that is a big stretch when all of a sudden his head pointed back, his tongue came out of his mouth and his stomach and body went rigid. My husband then rushed to our dog and dog was hardley breathing at all. He picked him up and sped him to the vet. They dried cpr and meds but sadley my baby is gone. The vet said that he was healthy and she wasn't sure what happened and did a dog autopsy. She didn't do the blood or tissue samples as we only had enough money for the vet bill and cremation but said she didn't see anything off. She said his organs seemed to look fine and the only thing a little different was a little bit of air in his stomach. She said she would suspect he had a seizure and passed away fast. I am heartbroken and it kills me that I don't know the 100 percent reason he passed away. I always tried to be the best pet parent but now I doubt myself and can only blame myself. Does this sound like a seizure? The only odd thing I ever noticed about him was every couple of weeks he would appear to have reverse sneezing when he drank fast or got supper excited but some petting would stop it. Any help would be great.

Dear Kris,  I am so very sorry about your dog!

Did your vet examine your pets brain for a brain tumor?  Brain tumors can be the cause of some seizures.  Other possibilities might include: toxin ingestion, a microscopic cancerous disease, and any microscopic disorder that could not be identified without cytology and pathology via microscopic diagnosis.

It might help to contact your dog's breeder, if still available, for more information.
