Thank you so much for the update, and that Archie is improving. I am very glad you had insurance too!
My Dog Archie, is now into his second week high dosage treatment and doing rather well I am glad to report. The vet has really zapped his body with high doses. Eye drops 3xday now down to 2xda, 'Medcam' or similar name into food, and another large tablet, both in one day. The 'whitening/blue' is gradually receeding and can now see brown rim of eye and not so thick blue/grey. Corneas are also now just pink colouring instead of red. We note he now poops for England we thinks! His fur and skin are in much better condition with no scaling/dandruff. Good eye is now sparkling but with slight blue tinge in outer corner. Vet said could be little while to see how he progresses but it is lovely to 'see' some changes. He's also been very good on the vet table which we did not expect. Just thought you might like the update! I wish all others with their mutt problems the best of luck! Thanks again.
Oh put thanks and reply on another part of forum as couldn't find this direct post to you! Never mind, will put again here! He has uveitis or 'kerioitis' or similar spelling. Lots of med for a week to see how he goes. Seeing vet next Friday to see what blood tests reveal. We noticed that when he gave him injection in leg and put light dressing on it, the blood was not clotting very quickly! One hour later at home dressing off he was ok! Vet thought this interesting! We are relieved that it is not glaucoma nor cataracts but we don't know if he can be cured or not, if only his 'poorly' can be save and not the ' bad' eye! We do have insurance and I really would advise folk to go get insurance! We pay the first £120 before the insurance kicks in but apparently we will be way over this amount at the end of the day. I said I would come back and put on your site what happens as we go forward hopefully with good outcome! THANK YOU FOR YOUR POST AND NO NONSENSE COMMENTS MUCH APPRECIATED. Have a good week!
I am very glad that you are going to the vet's soon.
Anterior uveitis, bacterial and viral infections, as well as feline leukemia virus or herpes can cause a variety of eye abnormalities, the possible causative agents are actually too numerous to count.
Many eye problems are associated with systemic disease so please let your vet perform necessary blood work, and other diagnostics!
