an oscar needs a much bigger tank to start with
1 oscar can live nicely in at least a 55 gal i know they start off small but in just a few months that 10 gal tank might just be small enough to kill him because of the stress alone
i have 3 right now in a 100 gal tank but 1 of the fish are leaving soon to go be with my dad
i have 2 red tigers and 1 albino tiger
there colors chang with there mood too
and i would go to the pet store and get a color enhancing food to to get him bak to the color you would like him to be
It could be your water condition, but I do know that Oscars are supposed to change color as they age. I'm not sure about a light green, but it is usually a lighter color. You sure it's not more of a grayish color?
Good luck with your fishie.
Did you post this to the fish forum?
I am sorry to say that I know practically nothing about fish. I would like to open this question to my fellow answerers for help.
The only thing I do know is that you can get a lot of help at your local pet shop that sells pet fish (usually the smaller local shops are more helpful.) They can test the water for you and do more tests than you can do at home.
