smell

My toy poodle has cataracts and cannot see.  So she is not very active.  After I give her a bath, she stinks by the next day.  She smells like corn chips.  Is there anything I can do?  I have tried several different shampoos, including one from the vet along with dog lotion.

In my experience, the "Frieto" (Yes, corn chips), smell is yeast!  If possible, get a shampoo specifically for yeast. (From your Vet). The probiotic is a MUST!  Don't buy one from a discount center...Go to a Health food store and purchase a good one. If her food is full of grains, get her on a grain free diet. You will see improvement in 4-6 wks....Good luck.........Karla

Interesting!

Could she have an ear infection, facial or lip fold infection, skin infection, or dental disease?  If she had any of these, bathing would not eliminate the problem, and she requires medication.

If she is infection free, than try adding some supplements to her diet as follows:
1. Probiotics
2. Omega 3 Fatty Acids (Marine Source or Flax Seed Source) at 1/4 human dose.
3. Parsley, Spirulina chlorophyll (available online or at health food stores) at 1/4 to 1/2 human dose.

It may take several weeks, so be patient.
