How can i deal with hip pain (recently sexually active)

So ive just started having a lot of sex this past week, and my hip (thats had a TON of arthritis problems in the past) is getting sore.  Im worried it will manifest into a serious flare up soon if i keep sleeping with this girl.  In the past when it flares up, i wont be able to walk for about a few days, and i take a prednisone taper to cool it off.  Im wondering if it would be wise to take a small dose of prednisone to help deal with the soreness, or if there are some relaxing excercises i could do to ease the joint.  It only hurts on the left side.  And thats the only side ive had any issue with.  I currently take methotrexate (20mg per week) and enbrel. Its normally fine but when i bend my knee and then rotate the joint outwards i get a stabbing pain in the groin.  I can do this motion with the right hip and its fine.  I will be talking to my doctor about this tomorrow but im wondering if anyone could give me some second opinions.  Thanks

Well, that's half the fun, experimenting to figure out what works best for both partners. :) I've had RA since childhood, so I've always had to approach *every* situation with an eye toward what's going to work and what won't. The key is to have a partner who's supportive and open to new ideas. There are ALWAYS ways to be intimate and give each other pleasure that don't include the *ahem* "traditional" routes. :)  Approach it with an open mind, humor and love, and you're golden. Sorry for the pun. ;)

LOL....where did the phrase, "The Golden Years" come from, anyways?  More like stainless steel and titanium....hips and knees, that is! UGH...  Baby Boomers...boom we aren't babies anymore, except when we hurt. waawaaa
From one redhead to another...my mind is still that of a teenager but my body is ancient. LOL

It's best not to rely on prednisone if you can avoid it. Long term use of it, even in small doses or occasional bursts, can CAUSE the very hip pain you're describing, because it causes something called avascular necrosis. Literally, the head of the femur dies and there's no treatment for it except hip replacement when the pain impacts your quality of life.

I'm probably answering too late for your appointment, I hope it went well.

Request her to take the top position.  Lay there and relax for a change! :)
