It sounds like a muscle spasm of one of your Intercostal muscles
These are the muscles that join the ribs together.
They stretch to allow the ribs to expand when we yawn or inhale
and contract to draw ribs together to sneeze, cough, laugh, etc

Try lying on your back on floor or bed
Slowly stretch one arm up by the ear and take as deep of a breath as you can without pain
If it changes the pain, it is probably these muscles

Then other thing to make sure of is that you didn't cause a compression fracture of the spine.  Do you have Osteoporosis (bone weakness)  You didn't mention how old you were.

Good luck

What makes you think your problem is related to arthritis?  This is something you need to see your doctor about.  No good worrying yourself about what it could be.  We cannot diagnose you on this site, only a doctor can do that.

Let us know how you get on.

go and see your doctor, could be something or nothing, but your better off knowing than sitting at home worring about it...
