Hello. Dnmh gave some great info there (as always!) I am piping in because I am on Actonel, a bisphosphonate therapy. I started a year ago and was in the high risk zone for breaking a hip. I just had a bone scan a year later and I do not have osteoporosis anymore. I do have osteopenia, the state between normal bone density and osteoporosis. The Actonel does not help with my pain.
I take the Actonel once per month and it makes for a bit of a rough day because of the way it makes me feel. I have heard about the annual infusion therapy and it sounds very interesting but I am afraid to change since I am making great progress with the drug I am on.
Osteoarthritis is a degeneration of cartilge betwen joints, osteoporosis is loss of bone density. In all my research I have never found the two to be related.
As to the medications, I have no experience with them so I can't help you there. I'm sure someone here wil pip in.
D.
Does anyone know if osteoarthritus and osteoperosis related?
