Flu/bronchitis

Both my daughter and I have been sick with flu type illness and bronchitis for almost two weeks. Even though our flu tests came back neg the urgent care dr feels we did have the flu. We went back to see urgent care dr yesterday for the 3rd time since being sick. My daughter still have episodes of coughing and dyspnea. The dr at urgent care did do xray on me but not on my daughter. Sent me on my way with increased dose of prednisone and told me i was wheezing. Said my daughter was fine and she coughs so much ot makes her sob and requiring albuterol tx. I am at crossroads with her what to do. I am the one up with her at night

I did have my daughter see her pediatrician. The dr did do a complete assessment of my daughter including a breathing test. My daughter was placed on prednisone, albuterol inhaler and tessalon pearls. I have seen almost a 180 degree turn around in her health the first 24 hours being on the meds. Thanks for your input. No more urgent care drs for me.

Hi and thanks for using the forum.

Does your daughter have a pediatrician?  If yes, I would call the pediatrician's office.  They could write you a prescription for albuterol treatments at home if they feel it is necessary.  It is possible that this is the flu, and the flu this year is pretty nasty.  Make sure your daughter is drinking plenty of fluids.  If she is older than 1-2 years old you could also try a teaspoon of honey- this can help with the coughing.   Good luck- I hope you are both better soon.
