I developed hemorrhoids with my second pregnancy. I found that ice reduced them somewhat and helped to relieve the discomfort. Once my baby boy was born the hemmorhoids disappeared.
HI and thanks for using the forum.
Hemorrhoids can be common during pregnancy. There are over the counter medications that you can try to help with the pain and swelling. Check with your local pharmacy (ie. preperation H, tucks, etc.). Also, a warm sitz bath can help as well.
IF you are having issues with constipation, this can aggravate and even cause hemorrhoids. So, be sure to eat enough fiber each day and drink plenty of water. If you are taking prenatal vitamins with iron, these can cause constipation as well . YOu may want to try a daily over the counter stool softener which can help prevent constipation (ie. Colace).
Before taking any medications, you should always talk with your ob/gyn first. He or she knows you and your history and may be able to make other recommendations as well. Good luck and congratulations on your pregnancy!
