Miscarriage

I'm 9 weeks pregnant and my doctor says that my hcg levels decreased and I will have a miscarriage.  My last ultra sound was when I was 7 weeks although my uterus measured 6 weeks there was no baby to be seen.  Does a decrease in my hcg levels mean that this pregnancy is going to end for sure? Should I get another ultra sound to confirm there is no baby and/ or heartbeat?  She wanted to schedule a d&c right away but my heart won't let me.

Thank you.  I just confirmed today there is a sac but no baby.  It's a blighted ovum.  The baby never developed.

Thanks for using the forum.

I am sorry for what you are going through. Doctors check the hcg levels to make sure a pregnancy is progressing as expected. They should continue to increase (usually double every 2-3 days in early pregnancy). It is normal to feel as you do, and to doubt the findings. You have to be comfortable with the results and any decisions that you have to make. I would recommend speaking with your doctor about the possibility of retesting your level, and a repeat ultrasound. The results may be the same, but it may help you to understand what is happening and help you decide what to do next.
