Parotid glands
Hi Nurse hw r u?I went 2 the doctr and he said i hve parotid glands.He gave me sum medicne.i did look it up on the internet and they say its lke a tumor and u hve 2 do surgery.my question is do i really hve 2 do surgery?ITS been 4 days and my face is stll swollen nw my right side is also startng 2 swel 4 hw lng does the swellng last.THNX:-)

Give the medication some more time to work. How long did they tell you to take the medication for? Did he tell you why he thinks the glands are swollen? Swelling can be caused by infection, the mumps, and even stones that can cause blockage. Generally, treatments include drinking plenty of fluids, pain management, antibiotics, and warm compresses. Also surgery is sometimes done, but usually only with chronic/reoccuring issues. Hope this helps. Good luck.
