brown discharge

Hi I don't know exactly what's going on.. I had my period last month on the 3rd and it lasted til the 9th. Usually I get the drk brown colored blood towards the end but this time I didn't it just completely stopped. But then 10 days later I got the dark brown blood for about 4 days. And now I'm getting the dark brown discharge again.. I've also been having sore breasts cramping in my abdomen and lower back pain. I took a pregnancy test on the 21 last month came out negative.. I haven't been sexually active for about 1 1/2. What could be causing this to happen?

Hi and thanks for using the forum.

Well, you could wait and see if your period actually starts this month.  You could also re-test to be sure you are not pregnant.  IF the pregnancy test is still negative, then most likely it is accurate.  It is not unusual to have an "off" period every now and again, so you could wait and see what is going on next month.  If you are concerned however, you could call your OB/GYN for an appointment to put your mind at ease.  Good luck.
