Your due date is usually considered to be 40 weeks from the first day of your last period. To accurately calculate a conception date you would need to know when you ovulated. Conception occurs when the sperm and egg meet 12-24hours after ovulation. Most women ovulate at about the midpoint in their cycle. Since the average cycle is 28 days, the conception date is usually calculated to be at 14 days after the start of the last period. If your cycle is longer than 28 days, your ovulation could occur later in your cycle. If you are irregular, it is hard to pinpoint when ovulation occurred. These assumptions are based on the most common cycle lengths, every woman is different. Your cycle may be longer, or shorter. You may ovulate at day 12, or day 17. The due date calculator and conception calculator are tools to give you a best guess they are not always exact.
